At EICMA 2026, Zontes is presenting the ZT853-R, a naked bike whose sporting ambitions are obvious from its components alone. A single-sided swingarm, high-mounted twin exhausts and plenty of carbon define the look, while underneath sits a new generation of engine and aluminium frame. Zontes pairs all this with components from KYB, Brembo and Michelin.

Zontes ZT853-R: 150 hp, carbon and a new triple
Single-sided swingarm and a major electronics offensive
Zontes is upping the ante with the ZT853-R: a new triple meets an aluminium frame, carbon parts and extensive rider aids. For brakes and suspension, too, the naked bike reaches for well-known brand-name components. According to current information, the model won't arrive until 2028.

New triple with 150 hp and 90 Nm
At its heart is a second-generation liquid-cooled triple displacing 847 cc. Zontes quotes 110 kW, or 150 hp, at 12,500 rpm, with peak torque of 90 Nm arriving at 9,000 rpm. The maximum engine speed is given as 13,000 rpm. The features include combined water/oil cooling and a variable exhaust system. The two high-mounted silencers are therefore as much a part of the technical package as of the bike's visual presence.

Zontes quotes 150 hp and 90 Nm for the 847 cc triple.
The performance claims are bold too: according to the manufacturer, the ZT853-R will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reach 280 km/h. The spec sheet lists Euro 5+ as the homologation standard. When it comes to weight, however, the documents are inconsistent: the technical spec sheet quotes 180 kg wet weight, while the presentation gives 183 kg, contradictorily labelled as both Curb Weight and Peso a secco. No clearly comparable reference condition can be derived from this.
Aluminium frame, single-sided swingarm and KYB
With the second-generation aluminium frame, Zontes claims to have optimised the manufacturing process, material composition and design. The high stiffness and stability of the previous 703 platform are said to be retained, while the manufacturer promises less weight and easier handling in corners. The main frame and subframe together are quoted at 10 kg. Added to this is an aluminium single-sided swingarm that leaves one side of the rear wheel exposed.

The aluminium single-sided swingarm leaves the rear wheel on full display.
The fully adjustable suspension is supplied by Kayaba, aka KYB. Up front is a 43 mm fork with 115 mm of travel, DLC-coated stanchions and, according to the spec sheet, forged outer tubes. For the rear shock, the presentation quotes 58 mm of stroke. This figure refers to the shock stroke and is not given here as rear wheel travel. For tyres, Zontes lists the Michelin Power GP2, described in the presentation as a sporty semi-slick.
Brembo brakes and adjustable footpegs
At the front sit two floating 310 mm brake discs. The presentation mentions Brembo Stylema calipers and a radial Brembo PR16 master cylinder. The technical spec sheet, on the other hand, lists Brembo M4.30. The exact specification of the front calipers is therefore described inconsistently in the documents. At the rear, according to the presentation, Zontes combines a Brembo P34 caliper with a Nissin master cylinder.

Up front sit two floating brake discs with a diameter of 310 mm.
According to the spec sheet, the seat height is 825 mm. Aluminium clip-ons and footpegs adjustable for angle and position allow the ergonomics to be tailored. There is also a split seat with a stitched leather cover. For the final drive, Zontes relies on a black-and-gold EK 525 DEX chain and a CNC-machined sprocket, whose low weight the manufacturer highlights.
Six-axis IMU and four-level wheelie control
The electronics go well beyond the usual ABS tick box. A six-axis IMU forms the basis for cornering ABS and lean-sensitive traction control. Added to this are ride-by-wire, four-level wheelie control, launch control and a bidirectional quickshifter. Cruise control is on board for steady touring speeds. Zontes also mentions tilt detection and brake force monitoring.

The 4.0 Intelligent Control System allows unlocking via NFC, including with a smartphone. The documents also show the Zontes 2.0 app and a new, horizontally arranged colour TFT display. The cockpit images show various views, including a map display. The features thus range from starting the bike to displaying information on the move.
Carbon parts and integrated LED lighting
The angular front end combines full LED lighting with position lights and indicators integrated into the design. Zontes uses carbon for the front cover, tank cover, winglets, front and rear mudguards, as well as for the footpeg covers and the lower cover around the oil sump. The high-mounted exhaust system and the exposed rear wheel dominate the rear view. That's a lot of visible details, which can be examined more closely in the photo gallery.

Position lights and indicators are integrated into the full LED design.
