In expanding its helmet range, Schuberth focuses on two key areas: vision and acoustics. The C5 GT joins the C5 family with a new visor coating and Harman Kardon speakers. At the same time, the company is expanding its range with active noise cancellation. Alongside new graphics for the C5 ANC, Schuberth announces the E2 ANC, based on its adventure platform.

C5 GT: visor coating from motorsport

The new C5 GT is an evolved version of the C5 flip-up helmet. Its centrepiece is a contrast-enhancing visor coating whose technology, according to Schuberth, comes from the SCHUBERTH PERFORMANCE Formula 1 helmets. It is intended to make details and contours in the road environment more clearly visible and provide a more comfortable view of the road.

The C5 GT adds a new visor coating and Harman Kardon speakers to the C5 family.

Schuberth points to the optical class 1 rating already found on the C5. The new coating builds on this foundation.

Harman Kardon speakers for the SC2

The second change concerns the audio system. The speakers developed by Harman Kardon are optimised for the SC2 communication system and integrated into the helmet. They are designed to reproduce music, navigation prompts and conversations more clearly and with greater acoustic depth. Comfort and functionality are said to be retained, according to the manufacturer.

Further features of the C5 GT include ECE 22.06 homologation, P/J dual homologation, Pinlock 120XLT and an individually adjustable interior lining. Ventilation and aeroacoustics also remain part of the C5 platform concept. The changes therefore focus on the visor and the audio features.

C5 ANC: new graphics and familiar technology

With the C5 ANC, Schuberth expands the design options. New graphics join the existing solid colours. According to the manufacturer, the technical basis remains unchanged, including ECE 22.06 homologation, P/J dual homologation and an individually adjustable interior lining.

The ANC system, developed together with Cardo, is said to achieve up to 10 dB(A) of additional noise reduction. Audio and communication functions run via the SC EDGE ANC system.

Schuberth C5 ANC

New graphics join the existing solid colours on the C5 ANC. According to Schuberth, the technical basis remains unchanged.

Schuberth describes ANC as a complement to its existing noise reduction through aerodynamics, wind tunnel work and passive insulation. The system is designed to specifically reduce constant wind and road noise. Important ambient sounds, including traffic, your own engine and emergency vehicle sirens, should remain audible. This is intended to reduce distraction and strain while riding. This effect, too, is a claim made by the manufacturer.

E2 ANC expands the adventure range

With the E2 ANC, Schuberth brings active noise cancellation to its E2 platform. The manufacturer is thus announcing the first adventure helmet with ANC in its range. The system is designed to reduce unwanted noise on long tours and while exploring remote roads, while maintaining awareness of the surroundings.

Schuberth E2 ANC

With the E2 ANC, Schuberth adds active noise cancellation to its adventure range.

The E2 platform features an adjustable and removable peak, ventilation, ECE 22.06 homologation and an adjustable interior lining. ANC adds active control of the soundscape to this concept. The documents do not state a separate reduction figure for the E2 ANC. The up to 10 dB(A) of the C5 ANC therefore cannot be carried over to the adventure model as a guaranteed value.

Prices and delivery dates still to be confirmed

The expansion sets different priorities: the C5 GT gets changes to vision and audio playback, while the E2 ANC brings noise cancellation to Schuberth's adventure range. With the C5 ANC, the focus is on the additional choice of designs.

Schuberth does not state prices or specific delivery dates in the press releases at hand. For further product information and availability, the company refers to its website.

FAQ on the new helmets

What sets the C5 GT apart from the C5? Schuberth cites a new contrast-enhancing visor coating based on its Formula 1 helmet technology and Harman Kardon speakers optimised for the SC2 as the key changes.

Which noises is ANC supposed to reduce? According to the manufacturer, the system targets constant wind and road noise. Traffic, your own engine and emergency sirens should remain audible.

Does the figure of up to 10 dB(A) also apply to the E2 ANC? The press release explicitly states this value for the C5 ANC. It contains no separate figure for the E2 ANC.
