Aprilia is known for its sports bikes, but the daily ride through town is part of the programme too. Alongside the SXR 50 already offered in Europe, the brand is now introducing the SXR 125. It is designed to combine an entry ticket into the Aprilia world with the comfort and practicality of a small GT. According to the manufacturer, the focus is on easy handling, low running costs and attractive value for money.

Aprilia SXR 125: Small GT with TFT and 14-inch wheels
20 litres of storage and smartphone connectivity as an accessory
Aprilia is expanding the SXR range with a 125. The small GT combines sporty looks with practical solutions for everyday city life. The cockpit gets a colour TFT, but when it comes to smartphone connectivity, it pays to check the accessory list.

Air-cooled single for city traffic
According to Aprilia, power comes from an air-cooled 125 cc four-stroke single. It produces 7.8 kW at 7,400 rpm, which works out at around 10.6 hp. Aprilia has tailored the engine to city traffic with frequent stop-and-go and promises economical fuel consumption. It is paired with a single-cradle frame made of steel tubes and pressed sheet-steel sections, which, according to the manufacturer, is meant to combine agility with stability.
The new 14-inch rims carry 120/70 tyres. Up front, a 220 mm brake disc with a two-piston caliper handles stopping duties, while a 140 mm drum brake works at the rear. Both brakes are operated via the combined CBS braking system.
Sporty front end and room for two
Visually, the SXR sticks with Aprilia's sporty design language. The large front shield houses a twin LED headlight with a third element in the middle, recalling the triple headlights of the brand's sports bikes. The front light cluster also integrates LED daytime running lights and indicators. The raised handlebar is designed to allow an upright yet dynamic riding position, while the windscreen keeps the wind at bay.
In everyday use, though, the unspectacular things count too. The flat footboard leaves room for your feet and can take smaller items of luggage. According to Aprilia, there is also a hook on the rear bodywork for securing a bag or backpack. The 850 mm long seat is designed for freedom of movement and comfort, even two-up. Seat height is 804 mm, and Aprilia says manoeuvring at a standstill should be easy.

The SXR 125 combines a flat footboard with an 850 mm long seat.
Colour TFT as standard, Aprilia MIA as an accessory
When it comes to the cockpit, the 125 gets more extensive features than the 50 cc version. New is the 5-inch colour TFT, which Aprilia describes as the only display of its kind in the small GT class. It is said to be large and easy to read. Also new are the electric switchgear units on the handlebar, which you use to navigate through the instrument menu.
For smartphone functions, you need the optional Aprilia MIA control unit. It connects your phone to the scooter via Bluetooth and lets you manage calls and music, as well as navigate with pictograms on the display. Connectivity is therefore part of the accessory range.
20 litres of storage and accessories for everyday use
Under the seat, the SXR 125 offers an illuminated 20-litre compartment which, according to Aprilia, can hold an open-face helmet. There is also a luggage rack with pillion grab handles and a storage compartment integrated into the rear bodywork with a USB port for charging mobile devices.

A windscreen and luggage rack are part of the Aprilia SXR 125's features.
If you want to carry more, the accessory range includes a 32-litre top case that can hold a flip-up helmet. There is also a wider windscreen, a non-slip rubber mat for the footboard and a side stand. For the colder months, Aprilia offers a leg cover that comes with a steel-cable anti-theft device and a waterproof seat cover. The MIA system rounds off the range.
Three base colours and a sportier S version
Aprilia lists Glossy White, Glossy Silver and Glossy Black as the colours for the SXR 125. The S version goes for Glossy Red, combining the red paintwork with black plastic parts and black wheels.
