Ducati Panigale V2 SP 2027: Racing Tech with a Dry Clutch

At Ducati, the SP badge has one clear job: bringing racing technology to production bikes. First introduced with the 851 SP, it returns to that original meaning on the new Panigale V2 SP. Unveiled in Milan on 2 November 2026, this version is based on the Panigale V2 S and, according to Ducati, has been developed and homologated for the FIM Supersport World Championship from the 2027 season onwards. It draws on the experience gained from a full development season in the Lenovo V2 Future Champs Academy. Ducati points to the lap times that young up-and-coming riders were able to set on the V2.

890 cc V2 with 120 hp and variable valve timing

At its heart sits the familiar 90-degree V2 with 890 cc, variable intake valve timing and Euro 5+ homologation. Ducati quotes 120 hp at 10,750 rpm and 93.3 Nm at 8,250 rpm. As early as 3,000 rpm, 70 per cent of peak torque is said to be available. That's particularly interesting if you don't want to spend every metre at the top end of the rev range. According to the manufacturer, the engine itself weighs 54.4 kg, making it 9.5 kg lighter than the Superquadro it replaces. Ducati describes it as the lightest twin-cylinder it has ever produced in-house.

Ducati Panigale V2 SP 2027

According to Ducati, the 890 cc V2 produces 120 hp. The SP weighs 176 kg ready to ride without fuel.

The diet doesn't stop at the engine, though. For the complete bike, Ducati quotes 176 kg ready to ride without fuel. It's worth keeping this reference figure in mind when comparing weights. For pure track use there's also a racing exhaust which, according to the manufacturer, is said to add six extra hp and cut weight by 4.5 kg. This accessory is intended exclusively for closed race tracks and is not approved for use on public roads.

Dry clutch and racing oil for the SP

A particularly Ducati-typical detail sits on the right-hand side of the engine: the dry clutch. According to the manufacturer, it is designed to improve the function of the anti-hopping system, disengage more smoothly and allow more precise engine braking. This solution also permits the use of Ducati Corse Performance Oil, developed for racing, for which Ducati claims a potential gain of up to 1.2 hp.

According to Ducati, the dry clutch is designed to improve the anti-hopping function and the modulation of engine braking.

Longer swingarm and Öhlins suspension

The chassis is built around a monocoque in which the engine acts as a stressed member. It's paired with an Öhlins NIX-30 fork and an Öhlins shock. The double-sided swingarm, developed specifically for the SP, is longer than on the Panigale V2 S. Ducati's aim is to put more load on the front wheel, increase stability and steering precision, and reduce the tendency to wheelie under acceleration. The new geometry is meant to play to its strengths especially on corner exit.

Ducati Panigale V2 SP 2027 – Double-sided swingarm

The longer double-sided swingarm is one of the key changes compared with the Panigale V2 S.

For the swingarm design, the Italians took their cue from the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm of the Panigale V4. Ducati promises more stable behaviour when accelerating out of corners and better feel on the race track, including when exploiting modern slicks. The SP components are also tuned to work with a racing kit developed by Ducati Corse. This kit will be made available to teams competing in the Supersport World Championship.

White forged wheels save 1.5 kg in total

The white wheels are among the most eye-catching features of the SP. There's more to them than just matching the Winter Test livery: forged aluminium wheels replace the cast wheels of the S and, according to Ducati, save 1.5 kg combined. The manufacturer says rotational inertia drops by 27 per cent at the front and 21 per cent at the rear, which should improve agility and acceleration. In addition, the white finish is intended to limit heat absorption around the front wheel, supporting more consistent tyre performance on the race track.

Ducati Panigale V2 SP 2027 – Front wheel and brakes

White forged wheels meet Brembo M50 monobloc calipers and 320 mm brake discs.

As standard, Ducati fits Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 front and 190/55 rear sizes. Braking up front is handled by twin 320 mm discs and Brembo M50 monobloc calipers. Ducati also lists a lithium battery as standard equipment. The SP thus targets mass and components in several areas, rather than defining its sporting credentials through more peak power alone.

Six-axis electronics and four riding modes

A six-axis IMU forms the basis of the electronics package. It includes Sport Cornering ABS with Slide-by-Brake function, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and Engine Brake Control. Ducati Power Launch and a pit limiter also feature on the equipment list. The Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 is the same system version as on the Panigale V4. For tailoring the bike to track, road and conditions, there are four riding modes: Race, Sport, Road and Wet.

Controls are handled via a new flower-shaped joystick, while information is shown on a new 5-inch TFT display in 16:9 format. Full-LED headlights with daytime running lights are included, as is preparation for the Ducati Multimedia System. The SP is delivered as a single-seater, with a pillion kit available as an accessory. The Winter Test livery combines the dark look with the white wheels, making the racing focus obvious even when the bike is standing still.

The Panigale V2 family for model year 2027

With the SP, the Panigale V2 family grows further for 2027. For the coming model year, Ducati lists the Panigale V2, the Panigale V2 S in Ducati Red and Ducati Yellow, as well as the Panigale V2 SP and Panigale V2 MM93. Within this line-up, the SP takes on the role of the version developed specifically for Supersport World Championship racing. The longer swingarm, forged wheels, Öhlins suspension and dry clutch are the key differences from the S on which it is based.
