Não se deve subestimá-la, mas também não se deve esperar demasiado. Se tiveres isto em mente, vais divertir-te muito com ela, mesmo numa pista de corrida não muito rápida. (No entanto, não devem estar muitos milhares na estrada nessa altura.) Manuseamento leve como uma mota, mas já tão forte como muitas motas funk de 600cc dos últimos 10 anos.

É inacreditável como a KTM desenvolveu o monocilíndrico sem sacrificar o desempenho. Pode ser considerado um golpe de génio o facto de, no âmbito da norma EURO4, a cultura de funcionamento do motor ter sido aumentada, aumentando ao mesmo tempo a potência. A curva de binário plana é responsável pela propulsão suave e potente. A partir das 4000 rotações, a Duke empurra com força e atinge as 8500 rotações. Mesmo a baixas rotações, o motor não gagueja nem engole, o que é uma vantagem na cidade. A maior força da Duke, para além da sua capacidade de condução, é a sua manobrabilidade, razão pela qual se pode dizer que é um brinquedo. Só quando estamos na pista de corridas e a atacar com força é que desejamos ter o "R" debaixo do rabo.
