KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 vs. KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2014

The KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 and the KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2014 are both powerful and capable motorcycles, but they have some key differences.

In terms of engine specifications, the KTM 1190 Adventure has a bore of 105 mm and a stroke of 69 mm, while the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has a slightly larger bore of 108 mm and a stroke of 71 mm. This results in the KTM 1290 Super Duke R having a higher horsepower of 173 HP compared to the 150 HP of the KTM 1190 Adventure. Similarly, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has a higher torque of 144 Nm compared to the 125 Nm of the KTM 1190 Adventure.

Both motorcycles have electric start and chain transmission, as well as a 2-cylinder engine. However, the KTM 1190 Adventure has a displacement of 1195 ccm, while the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has a larger displacement of 1301 ccm.

In terms of suspension, both motorcycles have a telescopic fork front suspension made by WP. The rear suspension is also made by WP for both models.

Both motorcycles have a chromoly frame and a tubular frame type. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R has the additional feature of ABS and traction control, which are not present in the KTM 1190 Adventure.

In terms of braking, both motorcycles have four-piston front brakes with radial technology. However, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has the added feature of monoblock front brakes, which provide even better braking performance. Both motorcycles have Brembo brakes.

In terms of dimensions and weights, the KTM 1190 Adventure has a wider front tire of 120 mm compared to the 120 mm front tire of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The KTM 1190 Adventure also has a larger front tire diameter of 19 inches compared to the 17 inches of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The KTM 1190 Adventure has a wider rear tire of 170 mm compared to the 190 mm rear tire of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. Both motorcycles have a 17-inch rear tire diameter.

The KTM 1190 Adventure has a longer wheelbase of 1560 mm compared to the 1482 mm wheelbase of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. The KTM 1190 Adventure also has a higher seat height of 860 mm compared to the 835 mm seat height of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

In terms of fuel capacity, the KTM 1190 Adventure has a larger fuel tank capacity of 23 liters compared to the 18 liters of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

In terms of strengths, the KTM 1190 Adventure combines sportiness with comfort, has a smooth gearbox, a powerful and controllable engine, an excellent seating position, a maneuverable chassis, sophisticated electronics, and angle-sensitive ABS. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R has precise handling, traction control, and a powerful engine.

In terms of weaknesses, the KTM 1190 Adventure may have some jerky behavior at low revs and is not as independent as its predecessor. The smooth slip is not its strong point. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R has a high price.
