Ceux qui pensaient que la nouvelle 8980 SMT jouerait un rôle secondaire inutile entre les modèles 890 Adventure et 890 Duke se sont probablement trompés. Rarement une moto n'a autant réussi à faire ce qu'elle suggère de l'extérieur avec son look. La 890 SMT veut donc être conduite de manière sportive - et elle le fait particulièrement bien. Toutefois, le carénage, la selle bien rembourrée et la position de conduite droite permettent de parcourir de longues distances. Le freinage est efficace et la maniabilité est extrêmement agile, même dans les épingles les plus serrées. La devise de la 890 SMT est clairement "voyager ET rouler" !

KTM ne connaît pas de retour en arrière et KTM ne connaît pas de pardon. C'est pourquoi la nouvelle 1290 Super Duke R est certes un peu plus maniable que sa devancière, mais aussi un peu plus puissante et rapide.
