Touratech states that the component was developed based on extensive practical testing. The central location of the loading surface is said to contribute to stable and neutral handling, both on long road stages and off-road. Multiple tie-down points allow for flexible fastening of bags, duffels, or soft luggage of various sizes. This solution is specifically aimed at riders who primarily operate their BMW R 1300 GS solo.

The construction consists of a robust plastic base plate and a 4-millimeter thick, black anodized aluminum luggage plate. According to Touratech, the installation is the same as the original BMW pillion seat and uses the standard seat locking system, making the luggage plate lockable and theft-proof.

The base plate is made from fiber-reinforced, black-coated plastic with a raised Touratech logo. The overall dimensions are 35.5 × 31 cm, with the loading area measuring 29 × 31 cm.
