It’s only the demanding ergonomics that make the Yamaha R9 less appealing to long-distance riders or leisurely bikers. However, anyone looking for a sharp country-road machine with track-day potential will find the R9 to be an extremely well-rounded – and, for what it offers, even good value – all-round package. In model year 2023, the MT-07 is still a good and universally usable motorbike. Its problem is the tough competition. In a direct comparison, the engine now seems a bit limp and the equipment a bit uninspiring. The good riding position and uncomplicated handling are still good.
