Vad kan vara bättre än att få ännu mer kraft och vridmoment i en redan kraftfull nakencykel! Föregångaren, R 1200 R, med sina 125 hk och Newtonmeter vridmoment, kunde redan köras mycket sportigt, men den förstorade R 1250 R, nu med 136 hk och massiva 143 Newtonmeter, driver boxerkraften till sin nuvarande topp. Det speciella med R 1250 R, precis som med föregångaren, är att den tack vare det omfattande utbudet av tillbehör även kan övertyga på turer. Den nya motorn med ShiftCam ventilstyrning är inte bara kraftfullare utan också mer raffinerad. Chassit och bromsarna övertygar också, och sittpositionen är behagligt upprätt, vilket möjliggör ett brett utbud av körstilar, från sportig push-off till långväga touring.

The big Vmax from Yamaha is a unique bike. This applies to the technical side, with the largest V4 engine in a bike of all time, as well as to the emotional side of riding a Vmax. Few bikes can offer such brute grunt in every riding situation, and even fewer of them are cruisers. Although its stubborn turning behaviour detracts from the riding pleasure, the seating position is quite cramped and the sound could be more indicative of the massive displacement, the propulsion is addictive. The Vmax 1700 is definitely a niche product, but also an absolutely awe-inspiring, unique bike.
