La CRF1000L Africa Twin est même sans concurrence sur un point : elle peut être commandée avec une boîte de vitesses à double embrayage DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission).

La KTM 1090 Adventure est un grand pas en avant par rapport à son prédécesseur, la 1050 Adventure, en direction de ses grandes sœurs. Le package électronique avec les Riding Modes réglables, le contrôle de traction et l'ABS reste certes à un niveau déjà élevé, mais le moteur développe désormais 125 ch, soit environ un tiers ( !) de plus que la 1050.
