La M 1000 R est définitivement bien réussie et l'ensemble convient. Même si elle s'adresse certainement plus aux pilotes sportifs, la moto peut également faire ses preuves lors de longs trajets sur route avec de petites restrictions en termes de confort de conduite. Grâce au guidon droit plus bas et à la position d'assise plutôt orientée vers l'avant, combinés à des repose-pieds plus hauts, il en résulte automatiquement une dynamique plus sportive qui ne donne pas l'impression d'être sur un canapé, surtout pour les pilotes de grande taille. En revanche, on a un bon contact avec la roue avant et suffisamment d'angle d'inclinaison maximum. En combinaison avec le puissant moteur, l'Hyper Naked joue en tout cas dans la cour des grands. Mis à part de légères vibrations, le puissant moteur RR est une puissance qui n'a actuellement que peu de concurrents à craindre dans le segment naked. La nouvelle électronique permet également aux pilotes peu expérimentés de doser la puissance avec des réglages conservateurs.

Le surnom de "Beast" n'est pas totalement usurpé, la KTM est et reste une naked bike brutale - 177 ch issus de deux pots d'une cylindrée totale de 1301 cm3 n'ont rien d'anodin. Pourtant, elle est étonnamment facile à maîtriser, grâce à sa position de conduite droite combinée à une bonne maniabilité, elle semble presque docile. Par rapport à son prédécesseur, elle a été améliorée avec précision sur ses principaux points faibles.
