Il est incroyable de voir à quel point KTM a développé un monocylindre cultivé, sans pour autant renoncer à la puissance. On peut considérer comme un coup de génie le fait que, dans le cadre de la norme EURO4, la régularité de marche du moteur ait été améliorée tout en augmentant la puissance. La courbe de couple plate est responsable de la propulsion régulière et puissante. Dès 4000 tours, la Duke pousse vigoureusement et monte jusqu'à 8500 tours. Même à bas régime, le moteur ne bégaie pas et n'avale pas, ce qui est un avantage en ville. La plus grande force de la Duke, outre sa conduite, est sa maniabilité, c'est pourquoi on peut la qualifier de jouet. Ce n'est que lorsqu'on l'utilise sur une piste de course et que l'on attaque fort que l'on souhaite à un moment donné avoir la "R" sous le derrière.

La nouvelle Hornet 750 est une naked bike vraiment réussie, qui se place au-dessus de la plupart de ses concurrentes dans la catégorie des motos d'entrée de gamme supérieures grâce à son moteur merveilleusement agile et puissant, à sa maniabilité et à son châssis équilibrés, à sa position de conduite agréable et, surtout, à son équipement électronique très complet. En fait, elle est déjà très proche de la classe moyenne, seuls le bras oscillant ennuyeux et le pneu arrière étroit de 160 cm3 (qui aide toutefois énormément à la maniabilité) ne correspondent pas tout à fait à ce segment.
