Même si la Thruxton 1200 est censée être le modèle sportif de la ligne rétro, le modèle normal a été conçu de manière rafraîchissante pour une utilisation quotidienne et donc harmonieuse - la Thruxton 1200 R, plus sportive, sert de toute façon les vrais coureurs rétro. Il reste donc un moteur puissant qui s'exprime avec vigueur, un système de freinage docile, une position de conduite un peu allongée mais suffisamment confortable et des fonctions électroniques discrètement emballées dans une moto qui se distingue visuellement par des réminiscences du bon vieux temps sans pour autant paraître embarrassante. Triumph a donc réussi à faire de la Thruxton 1200 une excellente moto !
