The new Touratech engine crash bars for the BMW R 12 G/S are designed to prepare the enduro for demanding tasks. According to the manufacturer, the bike is clearly made for off-road adventures but requires appropriate protective gear. The crash bars are engineered to effectively shield cylinder heads and valve covers from damage, both off-road and on the street.

The foundation is a structure made of 25 x 2 millimeter stainless steel tubes that enclose the boxer engine in a three-dimensional form. According to Touratech, the combination of material, geometry, and dual frame support achieves an exceptionally high level of protection. At the same time, the design closely follows the engine's shape, providing a sleek look and reducing lever forces in the event of a fall.

The surface is powder-coated and available in either black or red.

A key feature is the optional Tech-Plates, which enhance the functionality of the crash bars. The lower stainless steel plate features eyelets for securing tie-down straps, allowing the motorcycle to be stabilized for transport. The upper aluminum plate has cutouts for mounting luggage or additional equipment. Additionally, the Tech-Plates are designed to increase overall rigidity, thereby improving the protective effect.
