With the Kawasaki Z1100 and Z1100 SE, Kawasaki launches two high-displacement naked bikes into the fray, positioned by the manufacturer between the popular Z900 and the supercharged Z H2 models. The newly revamped Z flagship is built on the renowned Sugomi concept and rolls out for 2026 with a completely overhauled tech package, a new engine, and a distinct design line.

Engine & Performance of the Kawasaki Z1100 2026

At the heart of the new Kawasaki Z1100 is a 1,099 cc inline-four engine, claimed by Kawasaki to deliver 136 HP at 9,000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque at 7,600 RPM. The extended stroke (+3 mm compared to the Z1000), new camshafts, and revised pistons are said to significantly boost torque in the lower and mid-range. A longer gearbox, particularly in the 5th and 6th gears, is designed to enhance rideability on the road. The power delivery is supported by an electronic throttle valve system (ETV) with integrated cruise control and a bidirectional quickshifter.

How this power translates to real-world riding remains to be seen, as the Kawasaki Z1100 tips the scales at a ready-to-ride weight of 221 kilograms.

Chassis, Brakes & Features: Z1100 vs. Z1100 SE

Both versions of the Kawasaki Z1100 feature an aluminum twin-tube frame paired with a big-piston USD fork and a horizontal back-link suspension. The standard Z1100 comes equipped with monobloc brake calipers and 310 mm brake discs.

The SE version ups the ante with:

  • Brembo braking system featuring radially mounted monobloc calipers
  • Steel braided brake lines
  • Brembo brake discs
  • Öhlins S46 shock with external preload adjuster
  • Dunlop Sportmax Q5A as standard equipment

The cockpit of both models is dominated by a 5-inch TFT display, offering connectivity via the Rideology App, turn-by-turn navigation, and voice control.

Design & Ergonomics of the Kawasaki Z1100 2026

The new Z1100 adopts the proven Sugomi design principle: aggressively drawn lines, a sharp silhouette, and distinctive LED headlights characterize its appearance. New is the fin-like lower fairing, visually harking back to its supersport roots.

Ergonomics have also been refined: the handlebars of the Z1100 have been widened by 22 mm and positioned 13 mm further forward. This is intended to provide more agile, direct handling—both in urban settings and on twisty country roads.

Electronics & Assistive Systems Overview

Kawasaki equips the Z1100 and Z1100 SE with a full suite of electronics as standard. The 6-axis IMU enables numerous rider aids:

  • KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function)
  • KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control)
  • KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System)
  • Selectable Power Modes
  • Integrated Riding Modes (Sport, Road, Rain, Rider)

The Quickshifter (KQS), along with cruise control and ride-by-wire, complete the tech package.
