The suspension promises consistent damping performance even under extreme use and is aimed at ambitious off-roaders and long-distance travelers with high demands on performance and durability.

Shock Absorber Extreme: More Than Just a Stock Replacement

The three single-cylinder models from the KTM group are considered classic representatives of the purist enduro scene. Slim, light, powerful - and fitted from the factory with a genuinely capable setup. But anyone looking to push the limits, say on long trips with luggage or riding hard off-road, quickly realizes: there's more to be had.

This is exactly where Touratech comes in with the new shock absorber from the Extreme series. It's a suspension component with separating-piston technology, designed for extreme loads.

Touratech Suspension Tech for Tough Assignments

The shock absorber comes with a range of technical features:

  • 16 mm piston rod made from chrome-molybdenum steel
  • low-friction special seals with Teflon support ring
  • high-strength stainless steel bushings
  • large reservoir for oil cooling

Rebound damping can be adjusted at the base of the shock absorber, while compression is separately adjustable in the high-speed and low-speed range - a detail that frequent riders with sporty ambitions should appreciate. Worth mentioning: the position-dependent damping system (PDS) offers additional protection against bottoming out, making the shock absorber well suited to extreme situations, such as jumps or sudden bumps.

Custom Setup - with ABE

The shock absorber is tuned individually - so it's not one-size-fits-all, but a tailored setup according to the rider's wishes. Whether solo adventures, a pillion, or luggage: the tuning is done in consultation with the customer. As is typical for Touratech, the product is fully serviceable and comes with ABE, meaning no registration is required.

The shock absorber is priced at 1,399 euros, offered under item number 370-5840.

Conclusion: Touratech Shock Absorber Extreme for Big Singles

The Shock Absorber Extreme is Touratech's top-tier offering for the KTM 690 Enduro R, Husqvarna 701 Enduro, and GASGAS ES 700. It offers separately adjustable high-speed and low-speed compression and absorbs hard hits via a second damper piston system, which keeps things under control under heavy load and at high damper frequencies. The 16 mm piston rod made from chrome-molybdenum steel and low-friction special seals are clearly designed for toughness and durability. The base setup targets riders up to 100 kilograms including luggage; heavier loads can be accommodated with custom spring rates. With ABE and a price of 1,399 euros, it's an investment for ambitious touring and hard enduro riders for whom the stock damper runs out of reserves too quickly at full load and at the limit.
