Die Thruxton liegt bei der sportlichen Performance weit hinter der mit Öhlins und Showa bestückten "R". Das wird auf den Alpenpässen, wo ein gutes Fahrwerk, starke Bremsen und ein leichtes Handling entscheidend sind, besonders deutlich. Dafür belohnt sie das Auge des Ästheten mit einem noch authentischeren, weil klassischeren Äußeren. Laien können eine neue Thruxton kaum von einem Old- oder Youngtimer unterscheiden. Wie die Street Twin wirkt sie auf Passanten sympathisch und sollte eher entspannt genossen werden.
