S 1000 XR je s svojim 165-konjskim superšportnim pogonskim agregatom v kombinaciji z geometrijo in udobjem Bigendura eden najhitrejših motociklov na javnih cestah. Z bogato ponudbo dodatne opreme je po potrebi še hitrejši ali še bolj udoben. Vendar je z višino sedeža 840 mm in dolgim medeničnim lokom le pogojno primeren za manjše voznike. Vendar pa 790 mm visok sedež to odpravlja. Zavore so enako močne kot motor, XR prepriča z natančnostjo in predvsem stabilnostjo.
