Vizualno je novi BMW R 1250 RS edini od petih velikih bokserjev, ki je doživel večje spremembe. To je zelo primerno, saj je novi motor ShiftCam s svojo čudovito suverenostjo v območju vrtljajev spremenil značaj, RS pa je zdaj še boljši tourer. Še vedno ni lahek in kompakten motocikel, vendar ponuja čudovito stabilnost in udobje, le zaščita pred vetrom bi lahko bila nekoliko boljša. Vendar tudi športnost ni zanemarjena, izjemno zmogljiv bokserski motor je izjemno okreten. Kot običajno so Bavarci odlični pri ponudbi privlačnega seznama dodatne opreme, od katere imajo nekatere lastnosti odločilno vlogo pri dobrih zmogljivostih: Pri pogosto spreminjajočih se pogojih obremenitve (potniki, prtljaga) ne sme manjkati vzmetenje ESA, za popoln užitek v vožnji pa je nujen asistent za prestavljanje Pro.
