BMW S 1000 XR ponuja prijeten potovalni motocikel na osnovi superšportnega motocikla. Sliši se kot kompromis - a vozi se kot natančno usmerjen razvoj. Motor je praktičen in zrel. Zaščita pred vetrom in vremenskimi vplivi je zelo dobra, integracija mobilnega telefona je dobro preizkušena in intuitivna, motor pa je preprosto vedno užitek voziti. Čeprav se vzmetenje dobro prilagaja obremenitvi, ni nikoli občutljivo ali zares udobno. Udobje sedenja je dobro, vendar postane kolenski kot pri daljših potovanjih nekoliko oster. Kljub temu je to odlično kolo za športno vožnjo, pa tudi za vožnjo na dolge razdalje.
