Mali V-Strom 650 ni le vizualno blizu velikemu modelu V-Strom 1000 z izrazitim kačjim grebenom, zlaganjem žarometov in obsežnimi instrumenti. Oprema sploh ne ustreza temu, kar razumemo pod pojmom "poceni vstop": nadzor vleke, živahen motor Euro4, harmonično vodenje in dodatni tehnični pripomočki, kot sta pomoč pri nizkih vrtljajih ali Suzukijev sistem Easy Start.
