KTM 1290 Super Duke GT 2019 vs. KTM 1190 Adventure 2016

The KTM 1290 Super Duke GT 2019 and the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 are both powerful motorcycles with impressive technical specifications.

In terms of engine performance, the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT 2019 boasts a larger bore and stroke, resulting in a higher engine power of 175 HP compared to the 150 HP of the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016. The Super Duke GT also has a higher torque of 141 Nm compared to the 125 Nm of the Adventure. Both motorcycles have a 2-cylinder, 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 1301ccm and 1195ccm respectively.

Both motorcycles feature upside-down telescopic forks for the front suspension, with the same brand (WP) being used for both the front and rear suspension. The chassis of both bikes is made of chromium-molybdenum and has a tubular frame type.

In terms of braking technology, the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT 2019 has radial, monoblock brakes from Brembo, while the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 has radial brakes from the same brand.

Both motorcycles come equipped with advanced rider assistance systems, including ABS and traction control for the Super Duke GT, and ride by wire for the Adventure.

When it comes to dimensions and weights, the Super Duke GT has a slightly smaller wheelbase of 1482mm compared to the Adventure's 1560mm. The seat height of the Super Duke GT is also lower at 835mm compared to the Adventure's 860mm. Both motorcycles have a fuel tank capacity of 23 liters.

In terms of strengths, the Super Duke GT 2019 offers improved engine smoothness, a powerful engine even at high speeds, and a top-functioning automatic gearshift with blipper. It is also easy to control, even with the electronics switched off, and features an adjustable footrest system and a clear 6.5-inch TFT display.

The Adventure 2016, on the other hand, combines sport with comfort, has a smooth gearbox, and offers a powerful and controllable engine. It also has an excellent seating position, a handy chassis, sophisticated electronics, and lean angle ABS.

As for weaknesses, the Super Duke GT 2019 is still a matter of taste in terms of design, while the Adventure 2016 experiences some engine jerking below 3000 revs and lacks the smooth gliding of its predecessor.
