Zdi se, kot da se je Yamaha YZF-R6 rodila na dirkališču. Zlahka ugotovimo, da je R6 mlajša sestra modela YZF-R1. Naj gre za obliko, ergonomijo, zaviranje ali elektronske pripomočke - dirkaški geni so prisotni povsod! R6 je izjemen inženirski dosežek v razredu 600 kubičnih centimetrov in je, odvisno od vaših preferenc, verjetno najboljše 600-kubično kolo, ki je trenutno na voljo - vsaj za dirkališče. Yamaha daje vozniku neverjetno visoko natančnost in povratne informacije o prednjem kolesu in podvozju, hkrati pa je izjemno obvladljiva! Motor je izredno vesel do vrtljajev, vendar želi biti tudi zadovoljen. Škoda, da je najnovejša različica motorja R6 zaradi Euro 4 izgubila nekaj svoje moči... Kljub temu bo za večino od nas hitrejši dirkalnik na stezi. In če je potreba, lahko z odprtim izpušnim sistemom (brez cestne homologacije) in kartiranjem iz superšportnega motocikla izvabimo še nekaj konjskih moči. Oster dizajn in še bolj ostre komponente - TOP!

Kljub precej nenavadni kombinaciji razumnega motorja srednjega razpona z močjo 73,4 KM in izjemno agresivnega, športnega videza R7 nikakor ni ovca v volčji preobleki. Zmogljivost, ki je nekje med R3 in R6, se je v praksi izkazala za veliko močnejšo, kot bi kazale čiste vrednosti na papirju, glede geometrije, podvozja, zavor in pnevmatik pa so Yamahini inženirji resnično opravili domačo nalogo. Poleg tega ima Yamaha R7 vse lastnosti, da se lahko na kompaktni dirkalni stezi, kot je na primer Pannoniaring, tudi brez velike naložbe iz škatle zelo dobro zabava. Seveda pa se bolje počuti na podeželski cesti, kamor po našem mnenju v prvi vrsti tudi spada. Glede na celoten paket je nakupna cena več kot poštena - zato ni težava, da quickshifter ni vključen in ga je treba dokupiti kot opcijo.
