Com melhores componentes de suspensão da Öhlins e Kayaba, uma pintura mais agradável e um preço justificadamente mais elevado, a versão SP é claramente a escolha mais desportiva dentro da gama Yamaha MT-09. A potência bruta do motor não permite que a MT-09 SP seja conduzida confortavelmente, mas isso não é necessário na "Special" - a diversão está claramente em primeiro plano! A Yamaha MT-09 EVO com suspensão Wilbers está agora disponível como uma alternativa interessante, porque não tem "pintura de guerra" e é muito discreta. Mas infelizmente só na Suíça...
