É inacreditável como a KTM desenvolveu o monocilíndrico sem sacrificar o desempenho. Pode ser considerado um golpe de génio o facto de, no âmbito da norma EURO4, a cultura de funcionamento do motor ter sido aumentada, aumentando ao mesmo tempo a potência. A curva de binário plana é responsável pela propulsão suave e potente. A partir das 4000 rotações, a Duke empurra com força e atinge as 8500 rotações.
