Dat de Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory nieuw is, kun je zien aan de cilinderinhoud - de toename tot 1077 kubieke meter betekent dat er nu maar liefst 217 pk en 122 newtonmeter koppel beschikbaar is. Dit maakt de RSV4 een van de krachtigste op het circuit, maar ook een zelfverzekerde jager op buitenwegen. In alle andere opzichten, zoals chassis, ophanging en geometrie, belichaamt de fabrieksversie met Öhlins ophangingselementen echt de racegeest. Zelfs de coole winglets aan de zijkant zijn geen grapje, maar rechtstreeks afgeleid van de RS-GP MotoGP motorfiets. De rest van het ontwerp is oud, maar zeker niet saai.
