La precedente 790 Duke aveva già dimostrato che KTM sa come costruire una naked di media cilindrata per la strada. La nuova 890 porta la fiaccola con un petto gonfio e ancora una volta è all'altezza del suo soprannome di bisturi. Vivace, tira i raggi ed emana un certo nervosismo che può essere interpretato come un carattere selvaggio. L'equipaggiamento è quasi completo - ma solo quasi. Perché si deve pagare un extra per il quickshifter quando era di serie sul modello precedente? È ancora più fastidioso che le cambiate in salita e in discesa senza frizione funzionino come il burro e che non se ne voglia fare a meno.
