Pregled - KTM 300 EXC 2016 vs KTM 250 EXC 2016
The KTM 300 EXC 2016 and the KTM 250 EXC 2016 are both high-performance enduro motorcycles with lively handling. They have similar technical specifications, including a single-cylinder engine with electric and kick starter, chain transmission, and a steel frame with a central tube design. They also share the same front and rear suspension brands, WP, and have the same front tire diameter of 21 inches and rear tire width of 140 mm. Additionally, they both have an 18-inch rear tire diameter, a wheelbase of 1482 mm, a seat height of 960 mm, a dry weight of around 102 kg, and a fuel tank capacity of 9.5 liters.
One key difference between the two models is their engine displacement. The KTM 300 EXC has a larger displacement of 293.2 cc, while the KTM 250 EXC has a smaller displacement of 249 cc. This means that the 300 EXC may have more power and torque compared to the 250 EXC, especially in the low to mid-range revs. This can be an advantage for more experienced riders who are looking for additional power and torque.

However, the larger displacement of the 300 EXC may also make it more strenuous to ride on long stages compared to the 250 EXC. The 300 EXC may require more effort to handle under extreme loads due to its higher power output. Additionally, the engine response of the 300 EXC may not be as clean as a four-stroke engine, which can affect its overall performance.

KTM 250 EXC 2016
On the other hand, the 250 EXC may be more suitable for less experienced riders or those who prefer a smoother and easier-to-handle ride. It may have less torque in the rev range compared to the 300 EXC, but it can still deliver a good level of performance. The 250 EXC also benefits from lower vibrations due to its motor with a balancer shaft, which enhances the overall riding experience.
In summary, both the KTM 300 EXC 2016 and the KTM 250 EXC 2016 offer high performance and lively handling. The 300 EXC has a larger engine displacement, potentially providing more power and torque, but it may be more strenuous to ride on long stages and have a less clean engine response compared to a four-stroke engine. The 250 EXC, on the other hand, may be more suitable for less experienced riders and offers lower vibrations due to its balancer shaft.

The "big" two-stroke engine was newly developed in 2017 and is used on the 250 and 300. The electric starter is no longer "flange-mounted" but compactly integrated. Professionals have said that the 300 is actually too powerful for them. For me, however, it is THE 2-stroke recommendation, especially for hobby riders. With the map selector, you can choose the "mild" mapping here and also fall back on the weaker spring for the exhaust control. In practice, you can ride it in a gear higher than the 250 and it becomes quite tame. The new balancer shaft offers a big plus in ride comfort: significantly less vibration!

The 250 engine remains true to its line and has increased over the entire rev range. The bike offers a high degree of perfection and in expert hands is an unbeatable and indestructible winning machine. Strong enough for professionals! 300cc for the fast fraction not really necessary. Great plus in riding comfort thanks to the new balance shaft: significantly less vibration!
