The Triumph Tiger 800 XRT 2019 and the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT 2022 are both powerful and capable enduro motorcycles. However, they have some key differences in terms of their technical specifications and strengths.

Starting with the engine, the Triumph Tiger 800 XRT 2019 is equipped with an in-line, 3-cylinder engine with a displacement of 799cc. It produces 95 horsepower and 79 Nm of torque. In terms of suspension, both motorcycles feature upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a swing arm with a monoshock at the rear. However, the Honda Africa Twin offers a greater suspension travel, with 230mm at the front and 220mm at the rear, compared to the Tiger 800 XRT's 180mm and 170mm respectively. These additional electronic aids enhance the Africa Twin's overall performance and safety.

In terms of dimensions and weights, the Honda Africa Twin has a slightly larger wheelbase of 1574mm compared to the Tiger 800 XRT's 1530mm. The Africa Twin also has a higher seat height, ranging from 850mm to 870mm, compared to the Tiger 800 XRT's 810mm to 830mm. It offers a pleasant seating position and comes with five different riding modes. Additionally, the traction control and ABS can be deactivated, giving riders more control in off-road situations.

It also features a touch-screen color display and offers good ergonomics, making it suitable for long-distance rides. The Africa Twin's windshield is also noted for its effectiveness in off-road situations.

However, both motorcycles have their weaknesses. The Triumph Tiger 800 XRT 2019 has a color TFT display that is not optimally anti-reflective, which can be a disadvantage in bright sunlight. It also has limited slope clearance, which may restrict its off-road capabilities.

Its electronic operating concept may require familiarization and close examination due to the abundance of switches. Additionally, while the windshield offers some protection, it may not be sufficient for certain off-road conditions.

In conclusion, the Triumph Tiger 800 XRT 2019 and the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT 2022 are both capable enduro motorcycles with their own strengths and weaknesses. The Tiger 800 XRT offers a powerful engine and comfortable riding experience, while the Africa Twin excels in terms of electronic aids and off-road capabilities. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the rider's preferences and intended usage.

Triumph Tiger 800 XRT 2019

The Tiger 800 XRt is not only the slightly more road-oriented top model in the Tiger 800 range, it is also the best-selling model - and that could well remain the case with the new model. With a 19-inch front wheel and off-road mode, off-road excursions are no problem, while road riding and long journeys are sweetened with an incredible amount of luxury. In addition to cautious visual retouching, there is now a very easy height-adjustable windshield and 5 riding modes. Full LED lighting and a backlit control unit. Cleverly, the top models XRt and XCa are given the full LED lighting, the backlit control unit as well as heated grips and seats exclusively along the way.

Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT 2022

Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT 2022

For me, the Africa Twin is a touring enduro as a touring enduro should be. This was already true of the predecessor model and did not change with the increase in displacement and power. Because the latter remained manageable at 102 hp, and Honda even managed to shed a few kilos compared to the CRF1000L. So it remained versatile, functioning just as well on the motorway as off-road. The chassis absorbs almost all bumps, the engine remains sovereign in every situation, ergonomics and seating comfort are exemplary. A motorbike for all days as well as for the big trip - wherever that may be.
