KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 vs. KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021

The KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 are both enduro motorcycles with similar technical specifications. However, there are some notable differences between the two models.

In terms of engine and drive train, the KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 has a bore of 105 mm and a stroke of 69 mm, while the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 has a slightly larger bore of 108 mm and stroke of 71 mm. The engine power of the 1190 Adventure is 150 HP, while the 1290 Super Adventure S has a slightly higher engine power of 160 HP. The torque of the 1190 Adventure is 125 Nm, while the 1290 Super Adventure S has a higher torque of 138 Nm. Both models have an electric starter and a chain transmission. They also have 2 cylinders and a displacement of 1195 ccm and 1301 ccm respectively.

In terms of suspension, both models have upside-down telescopic forks with WP brand for both front and rear suspension. The chassis of both models is made of chromium-molybdenum and has a tubular frame type. The front brakes of both models are from Brembo.

When it comes to advanced rider assistance systems, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 has more features compared to the KTM 1190 Adventure 2014. The 1290 Super Adventure S has suspension that is electronically adjustable, riding modes, cornering ABS, ride by wire, cruise control, and traction control. The 1190 Adventure, on the other hand, only has ride by wire as an advanced rider assistance system.

In terms of dimensions and weights, both models have a front tire diameter of 19 inches and a rear tire width of 170 mm. The rear tire diameter is also 17 inches for both models. They have the same wheelbase of 1560 mm. In terms of strengths, the KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 combines sport with comfort, has a smooth gearbox, a powerful and controllable engine, an excellent seating position, a manageable chassis, sophisticated electronics, and lean angle ABS. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 has a very sporty and cultivated V2 power plant, accessible handling despite high weight, a comfortable driving-friendly seating position, good brakes including cornering ABS, a comprehensive electronics package, and a clear, well-structured instrumentation with a huge 7-inch display.

In terms of weaknesses, the KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 has some engine jerking below 3000 revs and doesn't look as independent as its predecessor. Smooth gliding is also not its strong point. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 has a somewhat sluggish turn-in behavior in bends, an opaque package design and pricing policy, and dashboards and switches that don't feel very high quality.
