The chassis and brakes are also convincing, and the seating position is pleasantly upright, allowing a wide range of riding styles, from sporty push-off to long-distance touring.

The new R 1250 RT really likes the more powerful engine with 11 additional hp, because 279 kilos ready to ride are happy about every extra hp. Even more pleasing, however, are the proud 143 Newton metres - 18 more than on the predecessor. This results in even more smoothness and sovereignty, which are at the top of the list for a tourer. Nevertheless, the thick 12.5-RT can also be ridden in a sporty manner; the pronounced acceleration from below makes it extremely agile, especially when exiting a bend after a hairpin bend.
