The KTM 1050 Adventure model year 2016 and the KTM 1090 Adventure model year 2017 have many similarities in terms of their technical specifications. Like the 1050 Adventure, it has agile and safe handling, adjustable ergonomics, a height-adjustable windshield, and a low weight. Additionally, it comes at a comparatively low price.

However, the KTM 1050 Adventure 2016 does have a few weaknesses. The rev limiter kicks in at 8500 revs, which may limit the bike's top speed. The chassis is also considered a little too soft for off-road use.

In my opinion, the KTM 1050 Adventure picks up where the 990 Adventure left off a few years ago: Around 100 hp of power, playful handling and as much or as little electronics as is currently state-of-the-art. The engine is anything but weak, ABS and traction control regulate safely and inconspicuously and the handling is extremely fun-oriented, partly because of the relatively narrow tyres. And all this at a price that is only undercut by a few competitors in the league of big touring enduros. Sad as it may be, the two 1190 Adventures and, above all, the flagship 1290 Super Adventure, have soared in price to very high levels. And that is precisely why the KTM 1050 Adventure is perhaps the most coherent of the four Adventure models.
KTM 1090 Adventure 2017
The KTM 1090 Adventure is a huge step away from its predecessor, the 1050 Adventure, towards its bigger sisters. The electronics package with adjustable riding modes, traction control and ABS remains at the already high level, but the engine now has 125 hp, around a third (!) more than the 1050. Almost more importantly, it can now rev freely to over 10,000 rpm and thus offers a more usable rev band. You will hardly find a more balanced bike in the class of still reasonably priced large touring enduros.
