With the 2024 update, the Svartpilen 401 has become significantly larger, more grown-up – and consequently heavier and more modern. Thanks to the lower seat height combined with its increased dimensions, it has become more appealing to both shorter and taller riders. The new TFT display is more pleasing to the eye and offers practical benefits. Despite the extra weight, however, the Svartpilen remains an agile, fun bike to ride, with decent grunt from its single-cylinder engine, a relaxed riding position and an adjustable, well-tuned suspension. Only the lacklustre, somewhat lacklustre brakes detract slightly from the riding pleasure. Anyone who found the old Svartpilen too small or too high should give it another go in 2024.
