You can still enter the corner with precision or turn the bike on. You can still correct every radius easily and at will. The Superduke is still more fun than a leather trouser. And you can still take on anyone with it.

In a direct comparison, the KTM 990 Duke is the more sensible choice, without feeling sensible or even boring. Its 123 Horsepower twin-cylinder engine delivers the same powerful grunt from low revs as the R, runs smoothly and is hardly any less fun on country roads. The softer WP suspension also offers sufficient support for a very sporty pace, whilst remaining slightly more accessible in everyday use and on longer journeys. For most riders, the standard Duke is perfectly adequate. It’s only during very hard braking manoeuvres, at high cornering speeds or with regular track use that it reaches its limits sooner than the R. Those who can do without the more modern touchscreen get a powerful, versatile naked bike with surprisingly good long-distance capabilities.
