Overview - Yamaha MT-09 2017 vs Yamaha YZF-R6 2017

The Yamaha MT-09 2017 and the Yamaha YZF-R6 2017 are two different models that cater to different types of riders. The MT-09 is a naked bike, while the YZF-R6 is a supersport bike.

In terms of engine specifications, the MT-09 has a larger displacement of 847cc compared to the YZF-R6's 599cc. Now, let's discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each bike. The MT-09 has several strengths, including an Öhlins suspension that provides excellent performance, an Akrapovic exhaust that enhances both the aesthetics and sound of the bike, and a Magura HC3 radial brake pump that offers exceptional braking power. The Carbon2Race covers also add to the overall visual appeal of the bike. Additionally, the combination of the seat, footrests, and handlebar clamps is highly effective in providing a comfortable riding position.

On the other hand, the YZF-R6 has its own set of strengths. It has strong and direct brakes, sharp looks, an automatic gearshift for seamless shifting, good wind protection, precise handling, and high transparency.

However, both bikes also have their weaknesses. The MT-09 can be a financial investment as it requires additional expenses for certain parts that need to be registered. The ECU Flash is also not road legal, which can be a drawback for some riders. On the other hand, the YZF-R6 has a radical seating position that may not be suitable for long touring rides. The standard power of the YZF-R6 is also lower at 118.4 hp, and upgrading it can be costly.

In conclusion, the Yamaha MT-09 2017 and the Yamaha YZF-R6 2017 are two distinct bikes with their own strengths and weaknesses. The MT-09 is a naked bike with a larger displacement and higher torque, while the YZF-R6 is a supersport bike with higher engine power. Yamaha MT-09 2017

Yamaha MT-09 2017

In conclusion, after several stops throughout the season, I can look back on a great result. Both in terms of performance and looks, our MT-09 is perfect. The suspension was probably our most important issue. Where before there was clearly (too much) movement in the rear in fast corners, now it is ironed over without batting an eyelid. The STX 46 shock absorber is quite stiff in its basic configuration, but also manages to get through everyday life without being uncomfortable. Thanks to generous adjustment options, there is still room for individual preferences and uses. The function of the NIX 30 cartridge is also impressive. The response behaviour - especially under load - has improved significantly. There is now also much more reserve available when braking. Where before the fork went into block and the ABS triggered when braking hard with the original set-up, now the brakes simply continue to work effectively. In addition, the MT-09 now follows the intended line in the curve radius as if by itself - a pure pleasure. The sight and sound of the Akrapovic complete system are also pure joy, and the fact that it produces a few more horsepower is felt effectively, especially in the upper third of the rev range. The front wheel shoots even more willingly into the gallery in 2nd and 3rd gear.

Öhlins suspension an extreme enrichment

thanks to Akrapovic now optics and sound are right

Magura HC3 radial brake pump works divinely

Carbon2Race covers offer grandiose optics

combination of seat, footrests and handlebar clamps very effective

Financial outlay

lots of working time

certain parts must be registered

ECU Flash not road legal

Yamaha YZF-R6 2017

Yamaha YZF-R6 2017

The Yamaha R6 2017 is still a visually and dynamically radical supersport motorbike that is one of the best and probably the last of its kind. The EURO4 standard costs the 599 cubic in-line four-cylinder with titanium valves a whole 11 hp compared to the 2007/2008 model. Yamaha is clearly targeting hobby, amateur and professional racers who don't care about standard performance anyway. With more than 50 accessories, the R6 can be upgraded according to need and budget. However, everyone should be aware that this can cost a lot of money.

Strong, direct brakes

sharp looks

automatic gearshift

good wind protection

precise handling

high transparency

radical seating position unsuitable for touring

standard power only 118.4 hp

upgrade cost-intensive
