Overview - Kawasaki Z900 2017 vs Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2022

The Kawasaki Z900 2017 and the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2022 are both naked bikes that offer impressive performance and stylish designs. However, there are several key differences between the two models.

In terms of engine power, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2022 takes the lead with 180 HP compared to the Kawasaki Z900 2017's 125.4 HP. This makes the Speed Triple more suitable for riders who crave exhilarating acceleration and top speed. The Speed Triple also has a higher torque of 125 Nm, providing strong low-end power and better acceleration.

Both bikes feature in-line engines with liquid cooling, ensuring optimal performance and temperature regulation. However, the Speed Triple has one less cylinder than the Z900, with a 3-cylinder engine compared to the Z900's 4-cylinder engine. This difference in cylinder count may result in a slightly different engine character and sound.

In terms of suspension, both bikes feature upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. However, the Speed Triple offers more adjustability with compression, preload, and rebound adjustments for both the front and rear suspension. This allows riders to fine-tune the bike's suspension to their preferences and riding style.

The chassis construction also differs between the two models. The Z900 has a steel frame, while the Speed Triple features an aluminum frame. The aluminum frame offers a lighter and more rigid structure, contributing to the Speed Triple's agile and precise handling.

Both bikes are equipped with double disc brakes at the front, but the Speed Triple has larger diameter discs (320 mm) compared to the Z900's 300 mm discs. The Speed Triple also features radial, monoblock calipers, providing enhanced braking performance and better heat dissipation.

In terms of advanced rider assistance systems, the Speed Triple offers a more comprehensive package. It includes ABS, riding modes, cornering ABS, ride by wire, and traction control. These features enhance safety and provide riders with more control and confidence in various riding conditions.

In terms of dimensions, the Speed Triple has a slightly shorter wheelbase (1445 mm) compared to the Z900 (1450 mm). This may contribute to the Speed Triple's nimble and agile handling characteristics. The seat height of the Speed Triple is also higher at 830 mm compared to the Z900's 795 mm, which may be a consideration for shorter riders.

In terms of weight, the Speed Triple is lighter, weighing 198 kg (with ABS) compared to the Z900's 210 kg (with ABS). This weight reduction, combined with the Speed Triple's powerful engine, contributes to its impressive acceleration and overall performance.

In terms of strengths, the Z900 is praised for its ingenious naked bike chassis, superb looks, and a responsive engine with well-balanced torque. It offers a great combination of performance, price, and practicality. On the other hand, the Speed Triple is commended for its versatility, offering a comfortable ride in city traffic while also delivering exceptional speed and performance. It features a rev-happy and powerful engine, top-quality quickshifter, and precise handling.

In terms of weaknesses, the Z900 is criticized for its narrow knee angle, which may be uncomfortable for taller riders. The Speed Triple's weaknesses include a quickshifter that is not perfect, a slightly intrusive sound, and some vibrations in the handlebars.

Overall, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2022 offers a more powerful engine, advanced rider assistance systems, and a lighter weight compared to the Kawasaki Z900 2017. However, the Z900 still holds its own with its well-balanced performance, practicality, and attractive price point. Precise, powerful and fast! The Triumph is a lot of fun on Alpine passes. However, you can only forgive the tight chassis if you are a sporty rider. But you have to love the engine. No matter whether you're strolling or heating up - the power is always available in a well-dosed manner.

Incredibly universal - rides easily in city traffic but also dead fast when needed

Rev-happy and powerful engine

Top quickshifter

Light and compact ride

Strong brakes

Precise handling.

Quickshifter good, but not perfect
