Kawasaki Ninja H2 2027: Supercharged Icon Returns

About ten years ago, the Kawasaki Ninja H2 and Ninja H2R caused a stir with a technical concept that remains closely tied to these models to this day: supercharging in a modern high-performance bike. For the 2027 model year, Kawasaki is bringing the Ninja H2 back and digging deep into its technical toolbox. This is by no means just a minor model update. Although the engine looks familiar from the outside, Kawasaki says nearly every important area has been reworked. The goal: more torque in the midrange, combined with the well-known top-end power surge.

The heart of the Kawasaki Ninja H2 2027 remains the supercharged engine. For the new edition, the impeller and intake system were completely redesigned. Kawasaki also reworked or newly developed the pistons, cylinder head, cylinder, crankshaft and camshafts. That's not all: new throttle bodies, a new exhaust system and revised gear ratios are also part of the technical package.

Maximum torque of 135 Nm is available at 8,500 rpm. As for peak power, the figures are more specific: with Ram Air, the Kawasaki Ninja H2 reaches 209 hp. The tuning delivers more torque in the midrange, while the top-end power surge typical of the H2 remains present at high revs. How this character actually feels in the saddle can only be shown by a ride test.

Kawasaki's engineers have also worked on the exhaust. The new exhaust system features optimized pipe diameters, a revised pre-silencer design and a more compact end muffler. This saves weight on the one hand. On the other hand, the design contributes to increased torque in the low and mid rev range.

There's also a new feature up front. The Ninja H2 2027 is the first Kawasaki model with Brembo Hypure brake calipers on the front axle. They combine low weight with precise, linear responsiveness. When it comes to the frame, however, Kawasaki sticks with the familiar concept. It continues to use a trellis frame that combines high rigidity with the necessary flexibility, ensuring stability even at very high speeds.

Kawasaki also relies on familiar names for the chassis. A KYB AOS-II fork works at the front, while an Öhlins TTX36 shock is used at the rear. The chassis is complemented by an electronic Öhlins steering damper, which is also part of the equipment on both the Ninja H2 and Ninja H2 Carbon.

The cockpit also gets a visible update. Kawasaki offers two different display layouts. Display Type 1 is styled after the silhouette of the air ducts. Display Type 2, on the other hand, puts more focus on the supercharging. In addition, aviation-inspired lean angle and vehicle attitude displays are shown.

The special status of the model line is further underlined by the Kawasaki 'River Mark'. This emblem is reserved for select models with historical significance and outstanding engineering achievement.

The Kawasaki Ninja H2 and Ninja H2 Carbon feature an extensive electronics package. Among other things, the KTRC traction control and KLCM launch control have been reworked. The equipment includes the following systems:

• KTRC – Kawasaki Traction Control
• KLCM – Kawasaki Launch Control Mode
• KIBS – Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-lock Brake System
• KQS – Kawasaki Quick Shifter
• Kawasaki Engine Brake Control
• Electronic Öhlins steering damper
• Electronic cruise control

The Ninja H2 can also be connected to a smartphone via the Kawasaki Rideology App. The street-legal Kawasaki Ninja H2 2027 will be offered in Mirror Coated Spark Black.

In addition to the regular Ninja H2, which weighs 238 kilograms wet according to the spec sheet, Kawasaki is also once again offering the limited Ninja H2 Carbon. The key difference in the information available concerns the upper fairing. On the Ninja H2 Carbon, this is made from high-strength, particularly lightweight CFRP – Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic. The manufacturer has not yet stated a weight difference compared to the standard version.

For anyone who only thinks of maximum power when it comes to the H2, Kawasaki remains consistent: the Ninja H2R also stays in the lineup. It is developed exclusively for track use and produces more than 300 hp. The H2R is built strictly to customer order.
