Touratech Aventuro Gravel Carbon: New Adventure Helmet

With the Aventuro Gravel Carbon, Touratech is expanding its helmet portfolio with a new flagship model for demanding adventure riders. The adventure helmet features a carbon shell, three different usage configurations, and numerous equipment details for long on- and off-road tours. It is available immediately in two graphic variants and sizes S to 3XL.

The heart of the new helmet is the X-PRO carbon technology. The helmet shell is made from a carbon material with a fiber content of over 60 percent. This is intended to create a particularly lightweight yet high-strength construction. Weighing around 1,500 grams in size L including visor and peak, the Aventuro Gravel Carbon is, according to the manufacturer, among the lighter helmets in its class. Three different shell sizes are also intended to ensure that the EPS inner shell is optimally matched to the respective helmet size.

Probably the most striking feature of the new Touratech helmet is its versatility. The Aventuro Gravel Carbon can be used tool-free in three different configurations. Depending on the intended use, it can be ridden as:

• an adventure helmet with visor and peak
• a street helmet with visor without peak
• a cross helmet with peak without visor

The large eye port is intended not only to allow a particularly wide field of vision, but also to allow the use of almost all common off-road goggles. According to Touratech, switching between the individual variants takes just a few moments.

A special feature of the new helmet is the Anti Vibration EPS System. A flexible rubber strip is located between the EPS layers, allowing minimal movement within the helmet structure. This is intended to reduce vibrations caused by air turbulence. According to the manufacturer, this could be particularly noticeable on longer highway stretches or at higher speeds, through a calmer fit of the helmet and reduced strain on the neck muscles.

Touratech also clearly targets adventure riders with its ventilation concept. Airflow can be specifically adjusted via the chin area. At low temperatures, fresh air can be directed exclusively to the visor to reduce fogging. As temperatures rise, the air is directed straight into the face area.

In addition, the helmet features ventilation openings in the cheek area as well as generous exhaust vents at the back of the head and in the neck area. This is intended to make the ventilation system suitable both for hot off-road stages and for cooler days of travel.

Touratech also focuses on long-distance suitability in the interior fit-out. A 3D mesh material is intended to support air circulation right down to the scalp, while the X-mart Dry fabric lining is designed to provide pleasant wearing comfort. All padding is removable and washable. For rides in low temperatures, a nose and wind guard can additionally be fitted. The cheek pads are also already prepared for the integration of a hydration system – a detail that should be of particular interest on long off-road stages.

An adjustable extension of the peak is also intended to improve glare protection against low-lying sun.

For the closure, Touratech relies on the X-Lock system made from Peraluman, a lightweight aluminum alloy. It is based on the well-known double D-ring system and is additionally secured by a magnetic closure. For emergencies, the Aventuro Gravel Carbon also features an Emergency Quick Release System. Here, the cheek pads can be removed via special tabs, making it easier for first responders to take off the helmet.

Modern electronics have also been taken into account. As standard, the helmet features an integrated action cam mount as well as an additional camera mount for the chin area. According to Touratech, this can be locked into four positions and rotated 360 degrees. In addition, prepared mounts for common intercom systems are available.
