Arai Quantic Review 2026: Comfortable Full-Face Helmet Checked

The Arai Quantic positions itself as a sporty touring helmet designed to cover as many areas of use as possible. Long holiday trips, the daily commute to work, a quick local loop, and even the occasional foray onto the race track are all meant to be part of its repertoire.

As is familiar from many Arai helmets, the Quantic leaves an exceptionally high-quality impression right from the first time you put it on. You slip it on, and in the best case the helmet immediately fits the way a full-face helmet should: snug, even, and secure, without creating uncomfortable pressure points. The inner lining feels pleasantly soft and conforms nicely to the shape of the head. The head is enclosed snugly, without the helmet feeling unnecessarily hard or restrictive. This exact combination of a secure fit and high comfort is one of the Quantic's greatest strengths.

Arai uses a removable and washable inner lining. In addition, the so-called Facial Contour System, or FCS for short, is employed. Small spring elements in the cheek pads support the fit around the jaw area. This allows the pads to sit snugly without exerting excessive pressure. The helmet also remains comfortable on longer stretches. The soft inner material, the balanced pressure distribution, and the stable fit ensure that you can wear the Quantic for several hours without constantly being reminded of the helmet.

As with any motorcycle helmet, though, the same rule applies here: try before you buy. Even the best helmet only works properly if its inner shape matches your individual head shape.

The high level of wearing comfort makes the Arai Quantic particularly appealing for longer tours. A helmet can be as light, quiet, or safe as you like on paper – if it starts pressing after two hours, every trip becomes a chore. The Quantic manages to enclose the head firmly while still remaining comfortable. The chin area is also well covered, which lets less draught into the helmet. This is especially pleasant at low temperatures, but it also reduces annoying air turbulence.

As a result, the helmet is not only suitable for sporty bikes. It also feels at home on naked bikes, adventure bikes, tourers, and sport touring bikes. Its great strength lies precisely in the fact that it can't be pinned down to a single type of bike.

Visually, some of the ventilation elements on the Arai Quantic appear relatively small and almost delicate. In practice, however, they can be operated surprisingly well even with motorcycle gloves on. This is particularly important, because you don't want to spend a long time searching for a small slider while riding. The various openings can be adjusted without much effort and provide sufficient feedback once they've been opened or closed.

Overall, ventilation is one of the Quantic's great strengths. Several intakes at the front supply the forehead, top of the head, and chin area with fresh air. At the same time, the rear openings let the warm air back out of the helmet. A special feature is the air intake located in the Arai logo on the forehead. Its position looks elegantly integrated into the helmet design, although it's not always immediately obvious at first glance whether the opening is currently open or closed. Once you get used to operating it, though, it fulfils its purpose well.

The Quantic has the typically smooth and round basic shape Arai is known for. The rear spoiler supports stability at higher speeds without making the helmet look extremely aggressive or like a pure race helmet. While riding, the helmet sits calmly in the wind. Even at higher speeds, it doesn't feel twitchy and doesn't generate unpleasant forces during shoulder checks. As a result, it feels lighter on the head than the raw weight alone might suggest.

Noise levels are also pleasant. The good seal of the visor, the shape of the shell, and the chin closure reduce disruptive turbulence. Of course, the Arai Quantic isn't completely silent either. How loud a helmet is actually perceived to be depends heavily on the bike, windscreen, riding position, and rider height.

You'll search in vain for an integrated sun visor on the Arai Quantic. This is neither an oversight nor a cost-cutting measure, but part of the manufacturer's safety philosophy. Arai fundamentally does without internal sun visors, since, in the manufacturer's view, the mechanism required for it and the additional cavity in the forehead area could compromise the ideal shape and structure of the helmet shell.

Riders who frequently ride in strong sunlight therefore have to rely on a tinted or mirrored visor, or on Arai's externally mounted Pro Shade System. A dark visor suits the Quantic's looks excellently and fits especially well with the sportier designs. In everyday use, however, it brings one decisive drawback: if you unexpectedly find yourself riding into dusk or at night, visibility is significantly reduced.

The only real criticism from the practical test concerns the visor lock. The mechanism is located on the left side of the helmet and reliably secures the closed visor. This makes accidental opening while riding practically out of the question. In terms of safety and sealing, the lock does its job very well.

When opening it with gloves on, however, it takes a bit of practice. Since the mechanism is positioned on the side rather than centrally, you don't always find the right grip immediately. Sometimes several attempts are needed before the visor actually opens. Without gloves, operation is unproblematic. With thicker motorcycle gloves, though, it can feel fiddly. Given the otherwise very convincing operation, this remains a minor criticism, but it does come up regularly in daily use.

The Arai Quantic meets the ECE-R-22.06 standard and relies on a multi-layer composite fibre shell. A central element of the Arai philosophy is an outer shape that is as round and smooth as possible. In the event of an accident, this shape is meant to help the helmet glide off obstacles or the ground rather than catching on them. Arai refers to this principle as "Glancing Off".

The rear spoiler and the attached ventilation elements are also designed to break off or give way under heavy loads. Their purpose is to affect the smooth basic shape of the helmet shell as little as possible in the event of an accident. The equipment also includes an Emergency Release System. This allows first responders to remove the cheek pads before the helmet is taken off the head. As a result, the helmet can be removed more easily and in a more controlled manner after an accident.

The Quantic is fastened with a classic double D-ring. This solution is particularly secure, well established on the race track, and comparatively simple in design. In everyday use, operating it takes a bit more time than a ratchet closure, but it's no problem for experienced riders.

The Quantic isn't a particularly lightweight helmet. Depending on the size, it weighs approximately 1,550 grams. Given the composite fibre shell, the extensive ventilation, and the ECE-22.06 homologation, this puts it in a typical range. While riding, the weight is less noticeable than the figure might initially suggest. The low centre of gravity, the stable fit, and the good aerodynamics prevent the helmet from pulling uncomfortably on the neck at higher speeds.

Build quality is at the high level expected from Arai. The paintwork, padding, visor mechanism, and ventilation elements appear cleanly assembled and high-quality. Even after extended use, the helmet leaves a solid and durable impression.

Traditionally, Arai's designs aren't always to everyone's taste. Some graphics look deliberately classic and can seem a bit old-fashioned when compared directly to more modern-looking competitors. With the Quantic, however, the selection is pleasingly diverse. In addition to subtle solid-colour variants, several sporty and modern graphics are available. This makes the helmet feel noticeably fresher without losing its typical Arai identity.

Especially with a dark or mirrored visor, a very coherent and high-quality overall look is created. This means the Quantic suits sporty bikes just as well as naked bikes and modern tourers.

The Arai Quantic impresses Martin Bauer above all with its very good fit and high wearing comfort. The helmet sits stably on the head without pressing uncomfortably, and thanks to the soft, gentle inner lining, it's easy to put on. It also works well for glasses wearers: the glasses can be slid in without any problems, and there's enough room around the ears. Another positive is that the Quantic is comparatively quiet and gives an overall very comfortable impression.

Criticism mainly concerns the visor mechanism and the ventilation. The visor has no fixed detents and can click into place when fully closed, but with thicker gloves it isn't always easy to open again. The small ventilation flaps at the front are also hard to operate with gloves on. In the rain, some water can also get in through an open vent. For a high-end helmet, Martin Bauer also finds the Quantic, at around 1,600 grams, comparatively heavy, especially since lighter alternatives exist in this class.

The Arai Quantic is an exceptionally versatile full-face helmet. It works just as well on short everyday rides as it does on long tours. Thanks to its stable aerodynamics and secure fit, it can also easily be used for spirited riding or on the race track.

Of course, it doesn't replace an uncompromising racing helmet for regular track sessions. For riders who are mostly out on the road and occasionally attend a trackday, however, it offers a very convincing combination. Its greatest quality isn't a single spectacular feature but the coherent overall package. Comfort, ventilation, aerodynamics, build quality, and safety work well together.
