The Daytona Strive GTX is firmly positioned as a sport boot, yet it boasts features typically found in the touring segment.

Daytona uses hydrophobic full-grain cowhide leather, which is both tough and supple. This is complemented by a GORE-TEX More-Season membrane, which the manufacturer claims is permanently waterproof and breathable. Inside, a textile lining actively wicks moisture away from the foot.

Flexibility is enhanced by strategically placed elastic zones at the instep and heel. Combined with the soft boot collar and anatomically shaped insole, this ensures comfort even on longer rides.

In terms of safety, the boot's sporty intent is clear. Dual ankle protectors with special foam, a padded shin guard, and a sturdy sole construction with a steel insert and plastic reinforcement offer high levels of protection.

At the same time, the Strive GTX brings unmistakable racetrack DNA. The racing sole provides direct feedback, while replaceable titanium sliders and a robust PU gear shift reinforcement are designed to withstand intense use. Overall, the Daytona Strive GTX is not a softly tuned touring boot but a full-fledged sport boot with added all-weather capability.

From the first touch, it's clear that the focus is on function and quality. The Daytona Strive GTX deliberately avoids excessive design elements, opting instead for a clean, functional look. The craftsmanship is top-notch. The leather appears uniform, meticulously crafted, and premium. Seams, transitions, and details reveal a high level of handcraftsmanship.

A crucial aspect is durability. Each boot is comprised of approximately 120 individual parts and is manufactured in Germany. Particularly noteworthy is the ability for repair and refurbishment. Worn soles can be replaced, significantly extending the lifespan. Thus, the Daytona Strive GTX isn't a typical consumable item but a long-term investment.

As part of the 1000PS Offsite Garage in Spain, the Daytona Strive GTX was tested under real-world conditions. Most of the time, the weather was dry, but there was also an intense rain shower.

The boot remained completely waterproof from below and the front. Only minimal water seeped in from the top, which is practically unavoidable. On the plus side, any water that did get in dried quickly and the internal climate remained stable.

During riding, the boot impresses with a good feel for the gear lever and rear brake. When riding aggressively on twisty roads, it delivers precise feedback and ensures a stable stance on the footpegs.

Short walks are also no problem. However, the boot isn't designed for longer strolls or hikes, which is hardly surprising given its sporty orientation.

The combination of GORE-TEX and racetrack initially seems unusual, but in practice, it works seamlessly. Entry is quick and straightforward, with zippers running smoothly—a clear advantage, especially in the hectic pace of a track day. Despite the membrane, the boot doesn't cause excessive sweating when worn with appropriate performance socks.

A crucial aspect in sporty use is the design. The Daytona Strive GTX is relatively slim, which directly enhances operability. This is particularly advantageous around the gear lever, as many boots with similar safety levels are much bulkier, making precise gear changes difficult.

On the track, the Daytona Strive GTX impresses with direct, precise feedback when shifting and braking. This builds confidence in late braking and hard acceleration out of corners. Even after several intense turns, there is no noticeable wear.

However, despite its high-quality protective gear, the Strive GTX is not a full-fledged racing boot. Compared to models with an inner shoe system—like the Daytona Security Evo G3 GP—there are compromises in torsional protection and overall stability.

An often underestimated aspect in everyday use is proper care—especially for a premium product like the Daytona Strive GTX. The boot is designed for durability but requires a certain level of attention.

Daytona recommends regularly treating the leather to maintain its water-repellent properties over time. This is less about immediate waterproofing—which is handled by the integrated GORE-TEX membrane—and more about keeping the outer material supple and reducing moisture absorption into the leather. This directly affects comfort and drying time.

When it comes to leather care, you should proceed carefully. Avoid products with high fat content, as they can impair breathability. Instead, use special care products designed for GORE-TEX boots to preserve the material properties.

Another aspect is the zipper. It should be kept clean and regularly maintained to ensure it remains smooth and reliable over time—especially with frequent on-and-off in daily use or on the track.

Scratches and wear marks on the leather can be cosmetically restored with suitable care products, emphasizing the boot's long-lasting nature, intended for use over years rather than replaced after a single season.

Daytona manufactures its boots entirely in Eggenfelden, Lower Bavaria. Every step is crafted by hand, from leather processing to final inspection.
