KTM launches an uncompromising track-only version of its 990 RC R into the fray. The KTM 990 RC R TRACK completely forgoes any road homologation, focusing solely on circuit use. Headlights, mirrors, and side stands are things of the past. The injection-molded plastic fairing accommodates custom race numbers, while the elevated windscreen supports an aggressive racing position. The bike comes standard with a rain light and paddock stand. Controls and the display have been pared down to essentials, saving two kilograms in weight according to the manufacturer.

KTM 990 RC R TRACK: When Street-Legal Becomes a Burden

Lightweight, uncompromising, track-focused, the new KTM 990 RC R Track
Parallel Twin Meets MotoGP Aerodynamics
At the heart remains the 947cc Parallel Twin DOHC LC8c engine, cranking out 135 HP at 99.3 kW and 105 Nm at 7,000 RPM. The standard Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust system, crafted from stainless steel, weighs only three kilograms and caps the sound at 98.2 decibels. The race gearbox features a longer first gear and a shorter sixth gear. Aerodynamics are inspired by the KTM RC16 from MotoGP, with wings and edges designed for maximum downforce when cornering and stability during acceleration. The 15.7-liter tank and the 857mm high seat define six contact points to facilitate movement around the motorcycle.

For amateurs and racers, out of the box ready to race!
Chassis and Brakes for Chasing Tenths
The fully adjustable WP APEX suspension is tuned for European racetracks. Michelin Power Slick tires in sizes 120/70-R17 at the front and 190/55-R17 at the rear come standard. Up front, a 320-millimeter Brembo HyPure disc with the latest 4-piston technology is employed, while a 240-millimeter disc is used at the rear. The system forgoes ABS and has been performance-optimized compared to its road-legal sibling. Three individually adjustable track modes allow fine-tuning of throttle response, motorcycle traction control, slip adjustment, anti-wheelie, launch control, and engine braking. A 4.2-inch TFT color display provides all relevant lap information, complemented by a pit limiter and quickshifter.

Large display, no ignition lock, sporty ergonomics.
Cup Racing Series Begins in 2025
Alongside the KTM 990 RC R TRACK, the manufacturer announced the KTM 990 RC R CUP—a six-part racing series in Europe for ambitious amateur riders. Participants in this series will receive their motorcycles as early as February 2026, while regular deliveries to customers and authorized dealers will begin in April 2026. The TRACK version positions itself as a factory-prepared track tool, designed for low maintenance and detailed dealer support. A motorcycle that doesn't blur the line between street and track, but deliberately draws it. For those interested in used KTM models, there is an opportunity to discover previous KTM RC versions.

Stripped to the Essentials, Allegedly Low Maintenance.
