70 Years of Yamaha: Iconic Colors Return

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Yamaha Motor Company, the Japanese manufacturer pays homage to its sporty heritage with a special color series. In 2026, all models of the Yamaha Supersport lineup—R125, R3, R7, and R9—will feature a white and red anniversary livery, inspired by the legendary 1999 R7. The design is complemented by historic Yamaha Speedblock graphics, a gold tuning fork logo, and model lettering styled from that era.

From Assen to Suzuka: A Celebration on the Racetrack

The anniversary colors were first unveiled at the TT Circuit Assen, where the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team and the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team showcased the special livery to kick off the celebrations. At the Suzuka 8 Hour race, the Yamaha Racing Team also sported the 70th Anniversary colors. Riders Jack Miller, Andrea Locatelli, and Katsuyuki Nakasuga secured a second-place finish, underscoring the festive occasion.

Later, the Yamaha teams in the FIM Superbike and Supersport World Championships also showcased the anniversary design at the Circuito de Jerez. This 70-year theme permeated all levels of Yamaha racing, from MotoGP to production-based series.

Tribute to the R-Series

With this special livery, Yamaha not only recalls its glorious years in racing but also pays homage to the legacy of the R-Series itself. Since the first R1 in 1998, the model family has epitomized the balance between high-tech, dynamism, and street reality. The 70th Anniversary Edition merges this DNA with the charm of classic racing aesthetics. Combined with the current R7 2026, already equipped with cutting-edge electronics and IMU technology, past and present unite into a cohesive whole.

Standard Colors Remain Available

In addition to the limited anniversary edition, all models of the Supersport lineup will continue to be offered in the regular colors of Icon Blue and Black. This ensures a choice between a modern factory look and classic racing aesthetics.

The R7, R9, R3, and R125 in the anniversary livery will be available from Yamaha partners starting in the 2026 model year.
