NIU Electric Innovations 2026 – Smart Updates and New Models

At EICMA 2025 in Milan, NIU Technologies unveiled its new 2026 model lineup. The manufacturer aims to fortify its standing in the European market by expanding both urban mobility and the offroad segment. Alongside upgraded versions of the NQiX series and a new design platform FQiX, NIU is also enhancing the XQi family with performance-focused electric offroaders.

According to NIU, the NQiX series, introduced in 2025, has established itself as a successful urban vehicle in the L1e (light moped) and L3e (motorcycle) segments. For 2026, the lineup receives a comprehensive technical update, featuring integrated Google Maps navigation, enhanced battery and motor efficiency, and software improvements to optimize range.

Special focus is on the new NQiX 1000, the series' powerhouse boasting 15,500 W peak output and a top speed of 125 km/h. Equipped with three removable 72 V / 28 Ah batteries, it is designed to offer a range of over 100 kilometers while providing flexible charging options.

According to the manufacturer, the market launch is planned for the third quarter of 2026, with a starting price of 6,499 euros.

With the new FQiX series, NIU takes a visually distinctive direction within its portfolio. Striking lighting elements, a sleek silhouette, and modern lines are designed to seamlessly integrate urban functionality with a fresh aesthetic.

Technically, the series offers smart features like a 5-inch TFT display, a NIU Link Crown Interface for connecting navigation, media, and security functions, as well as various unlocking methods via Bluetooth, NFC, app, or passcode.

The FQiX 150 (L1e) and FQiX 300 (L3e) are intended as entry-level models for this new platform. The market launch is also set for the third quarter of 2026, with prices starting at 2,399 euros.

In the offroad sector, NIU expands its XQi lineup with the XQi 400 and XQi 500 models, which debuted at EICMA 2025. The flagship XQi 500 Street is a road-legal electric motorcycle in the L3e class, boasting 28.8 kW peak power, a top speed of 110 km/h, and a lightweight chassis (92 kg).

The models are expected to be available in Europe in the second half of 2026. Additionally, NIU announced the relaunch of the existing XQi3 platform as the XQi 300, featuring revised performance metrics and expanded functionality options.

To complement its expanded model lineup, NIU is introducing a new app-based subscription service. New vehicle buyers enjoy three years of complimentary app access, with subsequent subscription plans starting at 2.50 euros per month.

These subscriptions are designed to ensure access to navigation, vehicle tracking, and intelligent diagnostics, enabling a long-term connection between the vehicle and the NIU Smart App.

In 2026, NIU focuses on technical maturity and platform diversity. By combining smart connectivity, modern design language, and a push into the offroad segment, the manufacturer significantly enhances its profile. The new NQiX 1000 in particular could set new standards as a powerful urban commuter in the electric segment.
