Yamaha NMAX 155 Tech MAX 2026 with Dual-Stage CVT

With the new Yamaha NMAX 155 Tech MAX, Yamaha expands its successful NMAX lineup with another model featuring a premium focus. A key innovation is the Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT) – an electronically controlled CVT gearbox with two riding modes and an additional downshift function.

In "Sport" mode, the gearbox maintains higher RPMs, allowing for a more direct throttle response and increased engine braking during deceleration. The "Town" mode lowers the RPMs, promoting a more relaxed riding experience.

An additional button allows for manual "downshifting," which, according to Yamaha, can provide stronger engine braking when decelerating and a more powerful thrust during acceleration—a riding sensation typically associated with motorcycles equipped with a manual gearbox.

The liquid-cooled 155cc Blue Core engine meets the EURO5+ standards and is designed for low fuel consumption and clean emissions. Features like Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), new components such as a hydraulic cam chain tensioner, and a smart key ignition underline its technological edge. A start-stop system is also standard.

In conjunction with the YECVT gearbox, the engine is expected to offer a more direct throttle response. According to Yamaha, changes in the gear ratio can be implemented in real-time at the push of a button.

The new Yamaha NMAX 155 Tech MAX adopts the sharp, striking design of the MAX series, including the boomerang fairing and short overhangs. An upright seating position and spacious footboards are designed to ensure good ergonomics. The chassis features a central tubular frame with 100 mm front travel and 91 mm rear travel. The new fork and shocks with reservoirs are intended to provide comfort on rough urban roads.

The NMAX 155 Tech MAX is offered exclusively with full equipment. This includes a 4.2-inch TFT cockpit with smartphone connectivity through Yamaha's MyRide app. Garmin navigation is integrated as standard. Music control, call display, and notifications are also possible (Bluetooth headset required).

Another feature is the leather-look seat with gold stitching and embossed design. There is ample storage space for a helmet under the seat. Two front storage compartments—one with a USB-C port—enhance everyday practicality.

The 13-inch alloy wheels with 110/70 at the front and 130/70 at the rear are designed to enhance agility. Deceleration is achieved by 230 mm discs on both axles, with ABS as standard. The lighting is fully LED: a vertically arranged projector headlight at the front and a horizontal LED light strip at the rear. The indicators are fully integrated, emphasizing the modern appearance.

For the 2026 model year, the Yamaha NMAX 155 Tech MAX will be available in Crystal Graphite and Midnight Black. The market launch is set for the first quarter of 2026, with prices yet to be announced.
