ContiTrailAttack 4: The road remains its home turf

An adventure bike is supposed to work in everyday life, rack up the kilometres on holiday and not chicken out when the turn-off leads onto gravel. For exactly this balancing act, Continental is presenting the ContiTrailAttack 4 on 27 October 2026 as the successor to the ContiTrailAttack 3. The focus remains clear: 90 percent road and 10 percent unpaved tracks. According to the manufacturer, confidence, stability and riding pleasure in the twisties take centre stage. The new tyre is thus aimed at riders who spend most of their time on paved roads, from the daily commute to the long-distance tour.

ContiTrailAttack 4: Silica and targeted belt stiffness

Continental relies on a new full-silica compound that is said to warm up faster and offer more grip in both wet and dry conditions. Product manager Raphael Michels describes the development goal as confidence from the chilly morning start to the mountain pass in the afternoon. Added to this is MultiZoneBelt technology: specifically tuned stiffness zones meet in the steel belt. A dimensionally stable centre section is meant to provide stability at high speeds, while more flexible shoulder zones are designed to allow a larger contact patch at lean. In this way, Continental aims to combine agility in corners with composure on fast straights.

ContiTrailAttack 4: New carcass for 21-inch fronts

For the 90/90-21 size, Continental has redeveloped the bias-ply carcass construction. Modern materials are meant to make it more flexible, improve the feel for the surface and enable calmer, more balanced riding performance. A revised apex construction additionally supports the sidewall and is intended to increase stability. Product developer Rafael Kascha promises more direct, more confidence-inspiring handling and greater steering precision for adventure bikes with a 21-inch front wheel. This should also be noticeable in changing conditions on country roads and on occasional gravel excursions. According to Continental, a new inner liner makes all sizes tubeless-compatible.

ContiTrailAttack 4: Tread pattern and intended use

For the tread pattern, Continental combines a closed centre with grooves that open up towards the shoulder. This is meant to support mileage and stability as well as provide reserves on gravel. The manufacturer describes the handling as intuitive and predictable, and the construction and carcass materials are said to deliver stability even when fully loaded. For you, the initial takeaway is this: with its 90/10 approach, the ContiTrailAttack 4 remains clearly geared towards road use, but explicitly takes the occasional detour onto unpaved tracks into account.

Occasional detours onto unpaved tracks are part of the intended 90/10 focus of the ContiTrailAttack 4.

ContiTrailAttack 4: Which adventure bikes is it for?

Conti cites a broad range of applications, from the mid-size enduro to the long-distance adventure bike. As suitable models, Continental lists the BMW R 1300 GS and F 900 GS, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO, Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally PRO and Ducati Multistrada V4 S. These are joined by the CFMOTO MT 800 X and Voge DS900X.
