Wunderlich X-CASE X30: 20 to 30 liters per side

The heart of the X-CASE X30 vario cases is an integrated 70-millimeter extension. According to Wunderlich, this allows the volume to be expanded from 20 to 30 liters equating to 50% more storage space per side. This is said to make the cases the most compact motorcycle cases capable of accommodating a modular helmet, according to the manufacturer. When the extension is retracted, the vehicle width is reduced by 140 millimeters.

This can be advantageous especially on narrow passages, in city traffic, or when maneuvering. The more compact design is also said to benefit handling and center of gravity. Wind resistance is also reduced. At the same time, the risk of collisions when parking, in traffic jams, or on ferries decreases. Compact when desired generous when needed. This is exactly the principle behind the vario case system.

Sealing system, Smart Lock and interior nets

The frames of the Wunderlich X-CASE X30 are equipped with a proven sealing system designed to protect the contents from weather influences. According to Wunderlich, two integrated interior nets per case ensure order inside. The Smart Lock locking system is said to allow the cases to be opened, closed, attached, or removed within seconds. Integrated, foldable handles are also meant to make transport easier.

Bicolor or carbon look

Wunderlich offers the X-CASE X30 luggage system in two design variants. The bicolor version combines a black body with side panels featuring aluminum inserts with a deep-embossed Wunderlich brand logo. The carbon-look variant also uses inserts, but in a carbon look likewise with the brand logo. Both variants are meant to underline a technical and high-quality appearance.

Conclusion: Wunderlich X-CASE X30: vario cases for R 1300 R and RS

The X-CASE X30 grows via extension from 20 to 30 liters per side, i.e. around 50 percent more volume at the push of a button. Retracted, the vehicle width shrinks by 140 millimeters, which is noticeably relaxing on narrow passes and in city traffic. The Smart Lock system is meant to handle opening, closing, and removal in seconds, while a sealing system and two interior nets per case take care of weather protection and order. Mounting is done on the X-RACK carrier. We're still missing our own riding and sealing impressions. Sensible for riders of the R 1300 R and RS who are sometimes out solo and nimble, and sometimes loaded up, since both can be covered without a second set of cases.
