New Ducati Hypermotard V2 2026

More Power, Less Weight, New Design

Twenty years after the first Hyper, Ducati unveils the new Hypermotard V2 – lighter, more compact, featuring a new V2 engine and advanced electronics.

Exactly twenty years ago, Ducati unveiled the first Hypermotard at EICMA 2005. Now, Ducati is opening a new chapter: with the Hypermotard V2, the fourth generation kicks off, completely redesigned with the clear objective of reinterpreting the purest form of the "Hypermotard" sensation. The new lineup includes two variants - Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP. Both share a new technical foundation, a completely new engine, and a design that echoes classic elements of the original Hyper.

Design: Back to the Roots

Visually, the Hypermotard V2 is clearly inspired by the original 1100. Features like the dual-wing tank, high-mounted twin exhaust pipes under the tail, and the free-standing taillight echo the legacy of the original. The front design is deliberately technical - the dual headlights with LED DRL in a "double-C" shape give the front a distinctive light signature, while the raised "beak" and slim waist ensure freedom of movement on the bike.

The SP version stands out distinctly: carbon fenders, gold Öhlins components, forged white aluminum wheels, Brembo M50 calipers, and an anniversary livery featuring a large SP logo along with a nod to the 20-year milestone.

2026 Hypermotard Engine: New 890 V2 with Variable Valve Timing

The heart of the new Hypermotard is the new 890cc Ducati V2 - a 90° twin with IVT variable valve timing. Weighing in at just 54.4 kilograms, it's the lightest twin-cylinder engine Ducati has ever built, replacing the well-known Testastretta 11°. The engine delivers 120 hp at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm at 8,250 rpm. According to Ducati, 70% of the torque is already available at 3,000 rpm, enabling a spontaneous, linear power delivery.

The shorter gear ratios and the revised six-speed transmission (featuring Quickshifter 2.0) are designed for faster gear changes and more punch when accelerating out of corners. The engine meets the Euro 5+ standard, remaining compact and more fuel-efficient than its predecessor.

For A2 riders, Ducati offers a restricted 35 kW version. The maintenance intervals remain long, with valve clearance checks required only every 45,000 kilometers.

Chassis: New Monocoque with Integrated Airbox

Technically, the new Hypermotard V2 is based on an entirely new cast aluminum monocoque frame, which also functions as the airbox. This construction provides increased rigidity and saves weight. The engine acts as a stressed member of the chassis, while the steel subframe deliberately echoes the design of the original Hyper.

The new aluminum double swingarm design is inspired by the hollow symmetrical swingarm of the Panigale V4 and is intended to provide more stability when accelerating out of corners. The suspension differs between the standard version and the SP as follows:

  • Hypermotard V2: fully adjustable 46 mm Kayaba fork, Kayaba monoshock, Brembo M4.32 calipers, cast wheels.
  • Hypermotard V2 SP: fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 (48 mm) and Öhlins STX46, Brembo M50 calipers, forged lightweight wheels, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tires.

The SP weighs 177 kg ready to ride, while the standard version is 180 kg.

The difference between the standard and SP variant lies in the components.

Ducati Hypermotard V2 2026: Ergonomics and Riding Position

A hallmark of a Hypermotard is its upright, controlled seating position. The wide handlebars, narrow midsection, and steep seat promote freedom of movement. The seat height is 880 mm, with Ducati having revised the seat design compared to the Hypermotard 950. The seat is narrower, the footpegs are positioned further forward, and the rider sits closer to the steering headfor a more active riding posture and better front-end feel.

Accessory seats in various heights and paddings expand the ergonomic options.

Electronics: Fully Equipped with 6-Axis IMU

The Hypermotard V2 is equipped with a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) that measures roll, pitch, and yaw movements in real-time. This system manages:

  • Cornering ABS (four levels, including Slide-by-Brake function)
  • Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
  • Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)
  • Engine Brake Control (EBC)
  • Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 (DQS)

The SP version also receives Ducati Power Launch (DPL) and a Pit Limiter, both derived from the racing program.

The new 5-inch TFT display allows for individual settings of four riding modes (Race, Sport, Road, Wet) and three info modes (Road, Road Pro, Track). In Track mode, the display shows real-time values for traction control, wheelie control, and ABSsimilar to the Panigale V4.

Differences Between Standard and SP in Wheels, Tires, and Brakes

Both versions ride on 17-inch wheels:

  • Hypermotard V2: Cast wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV (120/70 ZR17 front, 190/55 ZR17 rear).
  • Hypermotard V2 SP: Forged wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa.

For track use, Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks in 180/60 or 190/60 are available.

The braking system is entirely by Brembo:

  • Hypermotard V2: M4.32 monoblock calipers, PR18/19 master cylinder, 320 mm dual discs.
  • Hypermotard V2 SP: M50 calipers, PR16/21 master cylinder, also 320 mm discs.

Features and Electronic Equipment

Alongside its extensive electronics, the new Hypermotard V2 comes with numerous comfort and safety features:

  • Full-LED lighting with DRL and dynamic indicators
  • Ducati Brake Light (DBL) - warns following vehicles during emergency braking
  • Coming-Home function - low beam stays on for 30 seconds after shutdown
  • Bluetooth-ready for Ducati Multimedia System (DMS)
  • Turn-by-Turn navigation (optional)
  • USB port, Lap Timer Pro (optional)
