The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2022 and the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid 2022 are both enduro motorcycles designed for off-road adventures. While they share some similarities in terms of engine type, suspension, and tire size, there are notable differences between the two models.

In terms of engine specifications, the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2022 features a larger displacement of 1084cc compared to the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid's 689cc. This results in a higher engine power of 102 HP for the Africa Twin compared to the Tenere's 73 HP. The Africa Twin also offers higher torque at 105 Nm compared to the Tenere's 68 Nm. However, it's worth noting that the Tenere 700 World Raid has a more fuel-efficient engine with a combined fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100km compared to the Africa Twin's 4.9 l/100km.

Both motorcycles feature upside-down telescopic forks for the front suspension, but the Africa Twin utilizes Showa suspension while the Tenere 700 World Raid uses Kayaba suspension. The Africa Twin has a larger front suspension diameter of 45mm compared to the Tenere's 43mm. Both motorcycles offer adjustable compression, preload, and rebound settings for their front and rear suspensions.

The windshield also offers limited protection, and the ergonomics may not be ideal for standing riding. The Tenere 700 World Raid's 23-liter tank capacity may not suit everyone's preferences, and its braking performance at sporty road speeds may not be as impressive. Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2022

Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2022

For me, the Africa Twin is a touring enduro as a touring enduro should be. This was already true of the predecessor model and did not change with the increase in displacement and power. Because the latter remained manageable at 102 hp, and Honda even managed to shed a few kilos compared to the CRF1000L. So it remained versatile, functioning just as well on the motorway as off-road. The chassis absorbs almost all bumps, the engine remains sovereign in every situation, ergonomics and seating comfort are exemplary. A motorbike for all days as well as for the big trip - wherever that may be.

Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid 2022

Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid 2022

The World Raid is a successful addition to the Ténéré 700 model range. Until now, it was up to the real enthusiasts themselves to improve the off-road suitability. With the World Raid, Yamaha is now putting a ready-made version for long (desert) tours into the showrooms of the dealers. Even if the full 500 kilometre range is rarely needed in practice, this model is especially worthwhile because of its fine chassis components. On the road, the World Raid is less rocky; off-road, the enormous reserve provided by the fully adjustable KYB hardware is convincing. The response is at an absolute top level. The standard Öhlins steering damper also brings calm to the front. In addition to subtle model updates, such as the colour display, smartphone connectivity or new controls, the World Raid continues to shine with familiar Ténéré qualities. After our test, we say: Sometimes less is still more. It knows how to please!
