The Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally PRO 2022 and the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022 are both powerful and versatile enduro motorcycles from Triumph. While they share many similarities in terms of engine specifications, chassis, and equipment, there are some notable differences between the two models.

Starting with the engine and drive train, both models are equipped with an in-line, 3-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1160cc. They have the same bore and stroke measurements of 90mm and 60.7mm, respectively. The engine produces a maximum power of 150 HP and a torque of 130 Nm. Both models feature an electric starter and a prop shaft transmission.

In terms of suspension, both the Tiger 1200 Rally PRO and the Tiger 1200 GT PRO feature Showa suspension components. The front suspension consists of an upside-down telescopic fork with a diameter of 49mm. However, the Rally PRO model offers a slightly longer travel of 220mm compared to the GT PRO's 200mm. Both models have adjustable compression, preload, and rebound settings. The rear suspension is a swing arm with a monoshock, offering the same travel of 220mm in both models. The rear suspension also has preload adjustment.

The advanced rider assistance systems are also similar in both models, including features such as hill start assist, electronically adjustable suspension, riding modes, cornering ABS, ride by wire, shift assistant with blipper, cruise control, and traction control.

When it comes to dimensions and weights, there are a few differences between the two models. The Rally PRO model has a larger front tire diameter of 21 inches compared to the GT PRO's 19 inches. Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022

In terms of strengths, the Rally PRO model offers pleasant and relaxed ergonomics, good wind protection, state-of-the-art electronics, extensive equipment, very powerful brakes, and a finely responsive semi-active chassis. It also has a quick-shifting quickshifter and a good range. On the other hand, the GT PRO model has a linear and predictable power delivery, an extensive electronics package, good wind protection, a comfortable seating position, and top brakes.

However, both models have their weaknesses. The Rally PRO model's engine may not run quite cleanly below 3000 revs, and the large TFT display could be better utilized. It also exhibits load change reactions at low revs and may be too high for short-legged riders. The GT PRO model may experience high-frequency vibrations at certain speeds, has rather sluggish handling, and also exhibits load change reactions. Additionally, the grips are unfavorably positioned for a pillion passenger.

In conclusion, the Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally PRO 2022 and the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022 are both impressive enduro motorcycles with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Riders can choose between the Rally PRO model for its off-road capabilities and extensive equipment or the GT PRO model for its comfortable seating position and top-notch brakes.

Pros and Cons in comparison

Pros and Cons in comparison

Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally PRO 2022

Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally PRO 2022

The Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro is a true touring enduro and has a lot to offer. A comfortable, relaxed riding position, good wind protection, ample equipment and real travel suitability. Unlike the competition in the upper class of adventure bikes, however, it unfortunately lacks that certain "wow factor", that unique selling point that BMW GS, Ducati Multistrada V4 or KTM Super Adventure can boast. The Tiger 1200 Rally Pro has no remarkable smoothness, no extremely agile handling or brute engine, but it is well-balanced. However, there is still room for improvement in some areas, especially in the smoothness in the lower rev range. However, the basis is good and well-balanced, and the fine-tuning will hopefully come in the following model years.

Pleasant, relaxed ergonomics

Good wind protection

State-of-the-art electronics

Extensive equipment

Very powerful brakes

Finely responsive, semi-active chassis

Ok range

Quick-shifting quickshifter

Engine does not run quite cleanly below 3000 revs

Large TFT display could be better used

Load change reactions at low revs

Very high for short-legged pilots

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022

The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro comes with a powerful in-line three-cylinder engine and a lot of equipment. The all-round carefree package on two wheels can be steered with confidence, but clearly prefers a more leisurely pace. If that doesn't bother you, you'll enjoy the smooth electronic chassis, good wind protection and plenty of comfort features. However, the newly developed Tiger 1200 is (still) a little rough around the edges, as can be seen, for example, in the stronger load change reactions and high-frequency vibrations on motorway stages.

Linear, predictable power delivery

Extensive electronics package

Good wind protection

Comfortable seating position

Top brakes

High-frequency vibrations at certain speeds

rather sluggish handling

load change reactions

grips unfavourably positioned for pillion passenger
